There's a really nice high resolution texture pack for all the weapons by "Vertthrasher" I believe. You could also try JJ's alternate combine overwatch soldiers.

There's a mod that totally overhauls hl2 and ep 1/2 with major graphical improvement, pretty resource heavy though if I remember right... just can't remember what it's called... how is update version compared to that?
