Suggestion: make an option to scale the HUD
I love playing it in 1080p, but the hud, is really small to me, as is the mini-map. I know that if you lower the resolution, you make the HUD and menus and whatnot bigger, but the game detail and effects really suffer for it. I love the detail and graphics, just wish you could manually scale the hud and menus and all that. ;)

This is a great suggestion and something we will look into doing in the future, either toward the end of development or post-release in a patch.

Awesome! Thank you for paying attention and for being open to suggestions. It's one of the main reasons I chose to buy the game! Oh, and so far I am having a blast! Both figuratively and literally :P

thats great news i suffer from bad eyesight and being able to scale the hud is a great idea

Agreed. Because of the size of the map, i end up playing with the main map open most ot the time and that makes me miss a lot of hard work you have done on the environment.

I just wanted to point out that I'm absolutely hoping for something like this too. While Grim Dawn is easier to see than Titan Quest, much of the text and many of the icons are far too small at my native resolution of 2560x1600.

Scaling HUDs are great for future proofing as well, what with 4K monitors on the horizon.

I think one of the devs mentioned that they hope to have some UI scaling in B18.

So we may indeed see this in the future though when I'm not sure.
2560x1600? ouch. I thought 1080 was bad enough thats gotta just be painful.

I'm 7 feet away playing ona 47 inch tv from my couch. The hud is too small as is, and ive given in to downscaling to 720 in order to be able to play Grim Dawn more comfortably reading wise.

I've posted in GD forums too, its frustrating to know that they won't be getting to it until one of their last items on their development list. In my opinion this type of quality of life change is a priority. I backed Wasteland2 and long before the game was released to early access I had posted multiple times on the forums explaining how vital it is for HUD/UI/Fonts to be scalable in a literary rich video game(like Grim Dawn). Sure enough when the beta hit quality UI scaling was in place and working as intended. I feel bad for not playtesting that game more like I was going to, but after a few short hours I knew I was going to become hooked on it so I put it on the backburner until its released.

Anyways thats my rant, the devs should really look into scaling for Grim Dawn asap and not as a last stop item. For a lot of people it's not going to matter, but for instance someone with vision problems to begin with(that can still game), they won't non to pleased if even when they put their magnifier to the screen they cant read jack because its too small.

P.S. just saw mcninja's post, I hope hes right about scaling in build 18, that will be excellent.

Heh, I am playing roughly 6-7 feet away from a 100" screen, and @ 1080p even I have to squint to make out the words sometimes. My eyesight is fine... well, 20/25, but still, I should be able to read it no problem. I also think (like I said in my OP) that the actual HUD itself is way too small. It sits like a little box in the middle of my screen. I would LOVE to be able to move certain things around. For instance, if it were up to me, I would move my health bar to a vertical bar on the left side of my screen, the mana bar to the right. I would then have my 1st skill bar set vertical above my health, and the second set above my mana.
Building on that, I would LOVE to be able to push Shift+1 (or custom bind? That would be better!) to activate the skills in the 2nd toolbar without having to push the button to switch, then push the key, then switch back, etc. Yes, my most used skills are 1-4, but it would be much easier if I could use some of my lesser used skills more often by simply using a shift/alt/ctrl/whatever key.

You guys actually added UI scaling! I never expected to see it happen, especially considering that Grim Dawn is based on Titan Quest's engine and that game has always been very difficult to see on my monitor.

I'm so glad I backed your Kickstarter!

See!! This is why I LOVE when companies really embrace the Early Access concept and do it right. I love this game, and I am so happy that you guys listened to my suggestion and the others who agreed with it, and then implemented it in the game.
I am very proud to be involved in this, and I really am extremely excited to see what comes next!! Thank you! Not only for listening, and taking our suggestions and thoughts to heart, but for staying true to what Early Access is. A collaboration between the developers and the players, working together to make the game amazing. So many other companies and studios take advantage of the communities willingness to get in on something earlier than anyone else, and they either don't care about what Early Access is, or blatantly lie to us and try to mislead us.
So again, thank you very much for your integrity, and for listening! You just made a fan for life ;-}~

Yeah thanks,I'm using 2560 x 1440 resolution and I have just made use of the UI scaling.

Oh so they're TONICs of Healing, not Tomes. And all this time I thought they were like the edible books from Fallout.
j/k It always looked like Tome of Healing to me, now scaling up the UI I see the text much more clearly.
No more (Okay, less) eyestrain! Yay!
