Should I compare this game to Diablo ?
Everyone on steam and youtube is flaming me for comparing this to Diablo =) They don't know what they are missing and been riding on the Blizard Bandwagon since Diablo. I bet this game will be really fun once Multiplayer is good to go.

I think you "could". It is an ARPG after all.
If you "should" entirely depends on what you are looking for/comparing it to(and which Diablo game we are talking about).

I personally think that it has some similarities to Diablo 1+2, and very little with D3(which is good).

In the end, the game it is best to compare to, is Titan Quest(and TQ:IT) for obvious reasons.

Personally I am only comfortable comparing it to Diablo 1, and TQ.. as the game is much more singleplayer focused.

It's "Titan Quest 2"

I haven't played much of Diablo 1 and have played quite a bit of Diablo 3 ever since it was released and for me I compare the game in that it's looks remind me of Diablo 2 but it plays like Titan Quest.

Not Diablo 1, more like Diablo 2. D1 was more about going into the depths and killing Diablo.

GD has more of the gritty feel that D2 has.

@OP: I don't think you should be comparing it to anything but against itself. What I mean is take the game, play it, and see if you like it or not, if you like it fantastic, if you don't trade it for something you do like.

It's like this, do you like it if someone compares you to someone else? I don't simply because I am who I am, and I may look similar, but I sure am different... Get my point?

Like I said, play it, and see if you like it. If you don't trade it for something that you do like to own.

It's like Path of Exile without good skill trees or unique builds.

That's a highly subjective statement ;)

I would personally say it is the other way around. It's like Path of Exile(multiclassing), but with a lot of meaningful skill progression and unique viable builds.

I hear an *awful* lot about people refusing to group with people unless they are built a certain way. Doesn't sound to unique at all.

Grim Dawn has more in common with Titan Quest.

I wouldn't really compare this to D3 too much. They are both ARPG's, but I would prefer to say that GD is more of a successor to Titan Quest and D2, as far as physics, gameplay, atmosphere, etc. However, with Build 20 coming up soon, there will be a few aspects that will be comparable to D3, so we just have to wait and see. Regardless, GD, PoE, and D3 are all good games for their own perks and positive qualities. Its not like you can only like one or the other. Which is why haters are so fun to listen to.

People refusing to play with anybody who isn't "perfect" isn't unique, no. Doesn't say much about the game, though.

Says quite a lot to me about what it takes to be "viable" in endgame. Speak volumes. I played just enough time to realize the tree is 80% trash while the lag spikes basically killed the rest of it for me.
