You'll probably be able to beat the first 2 difficulties no problem, but when you get to Ultimate with a BM, using gear you barely scraped past the previous difficulty with, you're gonna hit a wall. A wall that won't be overcome without gear.
Saboteur plays very similar, but it's just easier to gear for.
Warder is a good class to start with. Soldier + Shaman. If you want to play melee. If you want to use Cadence, there are Cadence Warder builds that are easy to gear for.
Find a place you like(Preferably one that has a unique hero. Those with purple name) and farm it up by quitting/logging in.
If all else fails...well there is always trading. You can request items from other players and trade for them.Good luck!
Really anything else is just easyer to play unless you have perfect gear.
Warder can solo strongest bosses in the game with only green items, that is probably the easiest class to start with.
If you really want to use cadence witchblade seems quite popular and strong with it. You get up to +100 poison ressistance from blood of dreeg so itemisation is easier if you take occultist.
For blademaster you probably will want lifesteal on items, damage and ressistances. That is quite alot of requirements.
In ultimate there is a big jump in difficulty so even if you had no trouble completing elite, do note that you might suffer in ultimate
1. Learn Boss attack patterns: you aren't likely to get access to the good stuff right away (tems with aether & chaos resists are hard to come by, for instance) so you can't expect to facetank everything as a Blademaster, especially on the first playthrough. Dodge things when necessary.
2. Manage your resistances: I have a habit of carrying spare accesories (rings, amulets, and medals) with different resists and swap them depending on the area I'm in.
3. Physique is by far the most important attribute for most builds. It gives the most bang for the buck so putting points there is pretty much never a waste. You might have to add some points to Cunning and Spirit to meet gear requirements but I wouldn't worry about it just yet.
4. Choose a damage type and stack as much of it as possible. Between Soldier and Nightblade, you have a nice Physical and Pierce damage synergy going on so I'd recommend focusing on that but it depends on what sort of weapons you find on your journey.
5. Attack Damage converted to Health is pretty darn important, as well, especially since you have the potential to deal a lot of damage.
I used a Cadence Blademaster build and it was really good so you're on a good way.
Also get Charge and Shadowstrike cause its fun ;D. Can just jump around the map hitting boxes.
1. it requires a specific playstyle that I'd not recommend to a beginner
2. good luck killing undead with that setup
