Dialogues/subtitles gone in a flash

Hi all,

After all the great feedback I heard and read about this game, I was looking forward to playing it myself. Sadly dialogues don't play and the subtitles flash on the screen for a fraction of a second and then go away. The whole intro sequence was gone in a couple of seconds. This makes it rather impossible to play...

Since I haven't seen anything like this here or on Daedalic's forum, I'm wondering if this may have anything to do with the fact that I upgraded to Windows 8.1 this weekend.

Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks in advance...

Got the same problem! Not always but often enough that it's unplayable.
