[Linux] Random crashes
Just tried Antichamber now that it's on Steam and I experience random crashes while playing. Tried to run Steam from a terminal to get output and I get this:
LLVM ERROR: ran out of registers during register allocation
Loading library: libPhysXCooking.so
Result of loading library libPhysXCooking.so: 0xa7dca00
Loading library: PhysXUpdateLoader.so
ERROR: PhysXUpdateLoader.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Result of loading library PhysXUpdateLoader.so: 0x0
Loading library: libPhysXCore.so
Result of loading library libPhysXCore.so: 0xa7dc780

Using Ubuntu 14.04. GPU is an ATI RadeonHD 7770 with the free driver from the Ubuntu repos.

This is mostly tailored for Windows machines, since the game hasn't been available from Steam on other OSs until now, but I'm sure if you're using Linux then you can probably outfit some of these to work for you: http://reddit.com/r/antichamber/wiki/startupcrash

If you do anything not on that list, and it fixes the game from crashing, then please submit your "fix" to me, so I can add it to the listing of fixes: http://www.reddit.com/r/antichamber/wiki/startupcrash

Well, your list of fixes is indeed tailored for Windows users. Besides, the game starts fine; it crashes randomly while playing. If I'd have to judge from the error message I get, it might be a memory leak in the PhysX library on Linux (though I'm not a developer, I might be completely wrong).

Is the developer reading these forums or do I have to report the problem elsewhere?

Had another crash, which is completely reproductible. When going in a room that changes color (the one there: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=270787809) and switch to the blue one, going through the corridor seen on the other side of the wall, the game crashes with a similar error message but with a second error:
LLVM ERROR: ran out of registers during register allocation

Result of loading library libPhysXCooking.so: 0xb3a1a00
Loading library: PhysXUpdateLoader.so
ERROR: PhysXUpdateLoader.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

You can email the dev, he doesn't typically read these forums. alex@demruth.com

You can also tweet him, although he doesn't reply to all of those. twitter.com/demruth

Tried to e-mail him more than one month ago now. Didn't get an answer.

Anyway, I can confirm that the reproducible crash occur only with the free/open Mesa driver, I completed the game fine using the Catalyst driver (though I had random crashes with it too, but it's hard to say if they come from the game of rom that pile of crap that is Catalyst). This reproducible crash was apparently due to the appearance of the "smoke monster".

Not to say that this shouldn't be investigated or fixed.
