Beyond Divinity appeared to have gotten much less favorable reviews, but I believe most people were thrown off by having another character to control instead of having a single Hero.

I don't own Beyond Divinity - yet. Would anyone care to expand on my above speculation?

(But YEAH - "Hell Yeah")!!

Edit: So much gaming goodness today with the Halloween specials - and now this!!

Yes, I think that was one of the main problems some people had, along with the voice acting (it isn't horrible, but there is one NPC's voice early that kind of sticks out, and the DK starts off a little bit shouty). Leaving both characters selected most of the time avoids having to do much micro-managing, and the DK's voice gets better as the game progresses (and he talks less).
