Convince Me to Buy
Like the title says, please convince me to buy, don't try to sell the game like a salesman at a car dealership, I've watched couple youtube videos so I get the gist of what to expect from the game. I read reviews both negative and positive, and I understand why people feel the way they do.

Having said that, I enjoy games when I can appreciate the art. And I do appreciate the art in Don't Starve. It is witty and comical, but more than that I enjoy the color scheme. I have the curiosity to play this game, but I have a feeling I'll be turned off by the severity of the grinding aspect - which is primarily what this game is about.

I don't enjoy grinding games. Never have never will. I'm not RPG person. For example, I dislike minecraft, I don't understand the hype. But I do enjoy feeling accomplished in every game I play. What is the replay value in this from my position? What can this game offer me that is different from other survival games? Convince me either to buy or not buy. But don't try to sell the game to me.

Thanks guys. I'm really considering it.

Honestly I think this game has a lot of replay value. I have resarted a million times and its never the same play. As for grinding-you could take a play through decided you're not getting where you want quickly enough then adjust the game settings. The game is meant to be a challenge but you honestly can make it what you want. I love the art of this game and all the soundtracks for it I doubt you will get tired of it. So give it a shot. Your loss if you don't.

As you yourself did know much of the game's features, I think you may want to consider these points more than others.

One of the most debatable points is the game's design in "saving" and "deleting" as the player only has little control over it.

It's general updates tends to offer its player a more complicate and harder version than the previous one. Also, lacking of tutorial is another feature that bring mixed reviews.

More like a "hardcore game" maybe? If you are acquianted with X-series games, you should feel confortable about this game.

If you enjoy these arts, buy it

if you don't like hardcore grinding, then don't starve is definitely going to be a little tough to get through. when i first started playing, a LOT of it was trial and error - meaning i died. a lot. and unfortunately, that meant a lot of starting over, a lot of starting with nothing and having to collect a ton of resources before finally being able to settle down and start getting ready for the good stuff - fighting and hunting for more elusive resources, example.

that being said, i enjoy the game. the art style is definitely unique and the elements of the game can be pretty cool, albeit frustrating at times. hounds arriving at my camp in the middle of the night while i'm trying not to starve to death or evergreens suddenly coming to life and chasing me around after i was peacefully going about collecting firewood add an interesting twist to the game that constantly keeps you on your feet.

it's definitely tough. replayability wise, it's annoying to start out and collect those resources but having the option to change your character, and thus the way you play the game, is very cool. it's also moddable to heck thanks to the steam workshop.

in addition, there are two ways to play the game: adventure and sandbox. if you're like me, and prefer concrete goals and objectives during a game, try the adventure. the first night, on the first level, it started raining frogs. that was interesting, to say the least. if you'd like something more explore-y, just stick with the normal sandbox mode.

i'm not going to tell you to buy the game or not to, but i suppose this would be my opinion/experience with the game. just when i think it's getting dull, something wacky happens and i'm left either exhaling a huge breath i hadn't realized i'd been holding after being on the brink of death, or banging my head on the keyboard because i've died, AGAIN.

it's original, artistic, quirky, and an overall interesting game that although has similar aspects to other survival games, has enough charming little aspects to make it unique. a tiny furry chest named chester that follows you around enthusiastically with its tongue flopping out of its mouth? i don't know if it gets better than that.

Hows about I sell you a tyre instead.
What have you got to loose just by giving it a go? Go on, jump in, I'm sure you can afford it.

I'm not going to waste my play time on a person who can't even make up their own mind. Have a good day.

I agree. This definitely makes the game worthwhile.

Seriously though, go play the chrome version demo and then you'll know.

If you cannot handle the survival style game then I wouldn't recommend it. However if you are into a challenge then I have one suggestion for you, a Thundercougarfalconbird!!
