Basically, the eye plants will 'eat' certain things, such as birds, rabbits or any food or tools that you left lying around, even grass. If they have eaten, let's say, a rabbit, then after a few seconds the meat bulb will dangle a morsel around to attract more 'prey'. If the plants haven't eaten anything, then it will grow a leafy meat. They can be useful, as if you attack the meat bulb until it dies, everything that the eye plants have eaten will fall onto the ground and can be harvested. Hope you find this useful :)

After a certain amount of time passes the items are 'digested' and you cannot get them, even when you kill the plant. Probably should have mentioned that...

Hmm. Do you know how long it takes for something to digest? Meats, veg, fruits, tools, grass etc...I wish I had some time to do tests.

I don't know the exact time, but for me it keeps items for around a day before digesting them

I am considering them to be a good defense against hounds. Make a choke point and they will, hopefully get wiped out(hell hound might go differently...)

a good trick I discovered with the lure plant is to sit next to it while wearing the feather hat. The hat increases the frequency of bird spawning, making them fly straight into the eyes. After spending just one day I then break the lure plant, and received 15 morsels and about 12 feathers!
