Controller Support (Please look at it)
Hello, I'm calakever and I have an idea.
I really want the developers to add this game a controller support. I recently bought my first controller and I'm trying to play all of the games with it. It would be very nice if you could add controller support.

There are my ideas:
-You can add an "auto-collect" feature to help getting items faster or we can just press a button to take the nearest item.
-We can use the D-pad to craft.
-Left analog to walk.
-Start to pause.
-You can add a button to "interact" with the nearest object. Drop is different from this.
-Right analog to select a place to build.
- I think you can use lb-rb to move between inventory (The buttons like L1 and R1)
-You can also use left trigger to describe the highlighted object in inventory (L2 on PS) and right trigger (R2) to describe the nearest object on floor. Thanks again for reading!

These are my ideas. You can freely comment below. Please write you ideas or my mistakes too :). I would really appreciate If you can add controller support.

Please comment below like "Approved" because I really want controller support.

Thanks for reading my long post!

I also need a copy of this game for my friend. If you want, you can give extra copy to me!
Thank you
-calakever

But still a nice idea

The space key does this. You can by the way add a somewhat playable controller support by using xpadder, which allows you to map controller buttons / axes to keyboard inputs. I have made a profile for don't starve some time ago, but I have accidentally overwritten it. Also, one analogue stick was needed to emulate the mouse and two buttons were needed for left / right click, so this solution was nowhere near a well done, native solution. It worked okay for relaxed free play when no enemies were around, but once some time critical action happened on screen, it had it's limits.

So, tl;dr: I want native controller support, too ;)

I would love that too, I almost didn´t buy this cool game because it didn´t support controller.

Only problem I thought of it is how abou ranged weapons? It needed to have some autolock thing?

A controller isnt needed. I really only use my controller for shooters. I feel like that controllers were designed for FPS's as opposed to games like this. Anyways thats my two cents.

I dunno man. I'm a pretty big controller ♥♥♥♥♥, I use them for everything aside from point and click RPG's and strategy games. I don't think a controller would work well for this game.

wow, there´s crazy people for everything... I mean, you ONLY use controller for FPS? As in you rather than use it on a racing game or a game like darksiders or dark souls...

Anyway, I agree that the game wouldn´t be much optimized with a controller, but I still would find it more confortable

Dont play Dark Souls or Darksiders. In truth it really depends on the game. If its a racing game on PC that has crap controls, then i use a controller, if its a racing game with simple controlls, then I use a keyboard. And i never REALLY play racing games anyways. I mean i like RPGs but i feel that Controllers were designed for people who play FPS games.
I also own two racing seats for racing games on the Original Xbox.

Mouse has pretty much been scientifically proven to be better for FPS. Controller is better for fighters, racers and hack and slash.

On topic, it could probably be made to work, it probably wouldn't be as good as a mouse, but with a bit of reworking the interface it shouldn't be that hard.

must admit controllers have grown on me and i like to have the option to use them. Not sure if the devs would have time though , could easily be done , more complicated games have managed.

I also use xpadder but I didn't know there was an auto collect featureç Thank for the information!

I only use keyboard and mouse for FPS. For everything else, controller. :D

Darksiders series etc play best on controller.

I agree with you. I think FPS is hard to play with controllers.

Thank you again for all of your support!
