summer to diffucult?
my first summer, prepped for it and still struggling, foods now getting tricky to ontain, cook pot caught fire while cooking... burned half my base and i cant even go for a minor stroll without roasting unless i take a cold thermal stone, even then that only add up an extra 2 mins of walk time :(

nope. you need to build a flingomatic (you can refill it again with log) so you need a forest that you can plant yourself. and life near rabbit holes to catch them for food. and build a cube head. when you have enough gold and a place where you find ice all this should be no probleme. but i can't give you tips for the boss monster sry :/

thing is, summer sets random fires and quite frequently, dries up your farms, and burns you really fast if you go out for a stroll, even prepared you have a limited survival time before heat kicks in, and that isn't including the random outbursts of fire.
using the crock pot catches fire so you cant make decent food, a fire for cooking will roast you pretty fast if you try to use it for cooking (cant use the cold fire for that for some reason?)
so your choices are pretty limited during that season

Yeah, summer is just a bit too brutal. I prefer to play with it off, since dragonfly can basically burn half of your world and the heat forces you to sit in your base (especially as wx-78, RoG is horrible for it). If possible, spend hottest parts of summer exploring caves. You overheat "slightly" less and your precious resources won't burn to hell.

edit: Just got killed by a dragonfly after checking what day it is outside caves. Tip: Don't melee it. 18 gears lost -.-

Summer is incredibly easy once you get an ice cube and flingomatic. Dragonfly is a joke with a Panflute and gunpowder.

That's why you should make a flingomatic. You can negate all of these things

you can keep your fling-o-matic going forever by refueling it with rot and beefalo wool

My stone (and foods) don't increass or decreass my body temp. Is there a way to fix it or is this life now?

First time playing DLC with willow. Survived summer with her lighter, eazy

A fling-o-matic can keep summer from essentially ending your game, but it's still the most obnoxious season imo. It feels like once summer rolls around all my long-term plans get shelved; not even winter slows me down as much as summer does (at least the first one). Intended? Possibly. Challenging? Sure. Tedious? Most definitely.

I'm all for added difficulty, but it feels like there's just a bit too much waiting around for bad weather to end now. At least in winter you have the walrus camp to farm and some glaciers to mine: Summer seems to just be about waiting for summer to be over.

And the fact that I can't even explore caves without the potential of overheating? That's just silly. The same goes for underground rain in the springtime, but with summer, that's a bit overkill.

Yeah summer is way worse than winter. In winter at least all the grass/twigs/berries don't wither and your freakin camp doesn't burn down randomly.

You just need one of a few items listed here. Having more of them makes it easier though. Note, this does not count random fires. You could always stay away from your base, use ice fling-o-matic, build your base spread out and away from burning things like plants, trees, flowers or rabbits that could run through your base on fire due to spontaneous combustion, and if you're reaaally vigilant, put it out yourself or with ice.

-Thermal stone. The same one you use for winter, so this is a very useful and easy-to-get item. Cool it in an icebox or next to an endothermic fire to stay cool. Watch out, because the icebox can make it too cold and you could take freezing damage in summer!. If it's frozen like that but you need to use it, you can pick it up real quick to cool yourself some and put it down after. If you don't have an icebox or cold fire though, it's completely useless.

-Endothermic firepit. It takes a lot of gold and stone to make, but it's like a fire that lights things at night, and it keeps you cool. It also stops things around it in a small radius from smouldering. Be careful, staying near a cold fire that's too big can freeze you. You can cool a thermal stone next to it to keep it cool on the go. If the fire is all you have, you obviously won't be able to move far from camp, just like in winter. You can't cook on this fire.

here are also regular endothermic fires you can make that take nitre, wood, and gold. You get the gold back after it extinguishes though, so it's not as absurd as you might think.

-Ice cube. Pretty much the ultimate summer survival tool. If you have ice cube, you don't need anything else. It takes a lot to make, but it can be repaired with ice, and stored in an icebox indefinitely (it can't be repaired by being in an icebox, just prevents melting.)

-Ice amulet. Uses a blue gem and some gold. It keeps you cool but is very limited. You can stretch it a long way by only putting it on when you're about to overheat.

-Straw hat/umbrella combo. This won't stop you from overheating, but it will take longer for you to do so.

-Watermelon hat. Keeps you cool, but drains sanity, presumably because crushing fruit on your head and wearing it like a hat as it rots is a pretty desperate thing to do.

-Ice. It melts fast by being in your inventory, but if you start overheating you can eat a bit of ice and that will cool you down. Remember, things like umbrellas, straw hats, being under trees, and being in a cave all reduce the rate at which you burn up. You'll end up using a lot of ice using this method though. Only recommended if you're totally unprepared but have ice in your icebox.

There's a couple other things, but I haven't used them so I dunno. Whatever you do though, don't start wearing winter wear for the sanity boost in summer. That's a bit silly unless whatever you're using can handle the excess heat you're gaining and you want the sanity boost or swag anyway.
