What Mods Are Worthwhile?
I've put about 20 hours into Don't Starve. I love the game, but I was also thinking about installing some mods. Modding is not something I've ever really done, and I was actually just wondering which mods the community has found to be worthwhile. Characters and pets and so forth. Thanks!

There are a bunch of different mods. Some are more 'invasive' than others. Some completely change the game some add things some just enhance what is there. I generally go for only enhancement mods. At all times I am using the
Minimap HUD
Always On Stats.

They simply provide two things that I think the game benefits from.

I really like the mod that allows you to play as Link from The Legend of Zelda.
You're given a lot of cool items and such, and although it makes the game kind of easy, it's still fun to play around with.

Auto-Equip for sure thats my #1, Mini-map Hub very usefull, Oh Poop trust me it helps, Neat RPG HUB 25 dont know how I played without it. Where My Beefelo need it helps with Oh Poop, and if ur looking for a cool Mod charater to try out I recomend Puppy Princess she very cool and is updated ALL the time.

I second that! And if you want to not have all the items making it easy, just drop them and run away. Even if you throw away your items, you can craft them later because the mod adds Bombs, Bows and Arrows, Swords, etc.

Also, the Mini-map Hub is really cool.

Here's what I'm using:

Always on status - Lets you always see the health, food and sanity numbers without holding your mouse over them. You also see how warm it is in Celsius.

Display Food Values - Lets you see how much food, health and sanity a food item gives when you eat it.

Max Stacks - You can stack every item up to 99.

Minimap HUD - Self explanatory

RPG HUD 20 - Adds a Amulet and Backpack slot. Also slightly increases the carrying capacity of the backpack and chest.

SmartCrockPot - Predicts your cooking. It lets you know what food item you will recieve before combining the food items.

Storm Cellar - basically a chest that can store tons of items. The resources required to build the storm cellar is actually more than the amount required to build enough chests to store the same amount. But you don't have to have 10 seperate chests anymore.

Very slow health regen - Adds a very slow health regen. I think it was something like 12 hp per day.

My personal choices (that improve gameplay) are:
Wilson's Cabin
Storm Cellar
Always on Stats
Madman's Fighting Pack (not sure if that's its actual name)
Display Food Values
Musha The Puppy Princess
Summons (Only If you're using a weak character like Wes)
Link The Hero (Just for Kicks)

I believe thats it for me. XD

Lots of great mods there, I agree.

I'll have to give some of these a shot. Having a mini-map sounds like a dream! I'd also be interested in using the Where My Beefalo? mod, considering I generally have NO IDEA where they are on my map, even after I've found them.

I prefer the "Pickle-it" mod. It adds something useful to the game without it being breaking.
The Filth 10. feb. 2014 kl. 16.49
Use any mod that Is about HUDS, I also like charater mods that still fit with the rest of the game, Ex. Thomas the scuba-diver,Witney the student,Wallis the loner, and Wisteria the herbalogist.Wren the stormcaller and Waxworth fit well with the game too, as long as you like the game to be a bit weirder than normal.Bees work in winter is pretty great too but it is a bit OP unless your in it for the longrun. Everything burns and auto-catch can come in handy.Spookers the spoo and heavy are quite PUNNY but sadly doesn't fit in the game like the ones I stated above.

If you are going to add mods I would also suggest the "No Warning" mod. It prevents a sign popping up, warning you about the use of mods, every time you play the game. It doesn't alter game play and it isn't essential but dammit I DON'T WANT TO KEEP CLICKING THAT BUTTON!

I personaly look for mods which focus on realism. Like 'break the ice' mod. You can break the ice on ponds in winter using a pickaxe so you can fish. The mod is out of date now, but still works fine. Also the 'Repair tool' mod. This allows you to repair most kinds of clothes & equipment by using small amounts of resources against wear n tear. Ive noticed the mod crash sometimes while holding or wearing the item you want repaired. Place them in your inventory FIRST before attempting repairs.
