What I'd like to see added
After exploring 4 islands as much as I could over the seasons, here's what I'd really like to see added:
- New landmarks
- New music (any sort of new content really, cause I think you can find most of them in a few playthroughs)
- Option to choose starting season (they'd still proceed in the same order, but by choosing the starting season you can float up in a different ending season if that makes sense).
- More island size/ generating options

Also, they could add an optoin that you could turn on: grappling hooks and impassable terrain. you would have to use the hooks to cross the terain. Or add a scuba diving feature.

If I'd be the developer, I'd add a ♥♥♥♥ ton of content like: rare animals, weird colors, special trees, natural events (like a storm maybe and meteor shower and stuff like that). Now when I think about it, it would be awesome if there would be a Proteus 2 where you explore a star instead of an island so the freedom for the creators would be much more accesible.

I really hope that they add more content as well as make a Proteus 2 that takes place in a different world. Did the developers say they would continue updating the game anywhere?

In addition to all the suggestions already provided, I'd like to see the following:
- water on the island... streams, lakes, waterfalls, etc. This might provide some interesting opportunities to entend the music, as well.
- shadows (I realize this could be a big performance hit).
- the astrophysics is wierd: moon is always full, sun and moon always follow the same path across the sky, regardless of the season. Can the seasons be reflected in the behavior of objects in the sky?
- rougher, more interesting terrain, e.g. gullys/gorges, steep cliffs, rockfalls, geysers, lava flows, etc.
- LONG TERM: a release with much more realistic vegetation and animals? I have been looking for a game or virtual private world wherein I could wander freely, just enjoying the scenery, without constantly having to worry about questing, engaging in combat, leveling up, etc... I imagine something like Skyrim, scenery-wise, without the gaming overhead. SImplisticly, it would be a "happy place" one could go to any time for relaxation; a private world one could enjoy and interact with on demand. Minecraft is a crude approximation. Proteus is much closer to the kind of thing I was looking for. It's just lacking the environmental verisimilitude I've been seeking. I'm very impressed with what Proteus provides; please keep building on it!
