Crash on startup (WINDOWS 8)

I go to launch the game and the window comes up, whited out, and then I get an error message saying that it's encountered an error. I've tried a lot of recommended fixes (switch to beta, delete settings) but nothing seems to work. If the devs are willing to try and help me with this problem, I'll gladly work with you to get this resolved so other people don't have to go through it. but if i don't get any response, I'll have to ask for a refund from steam support. So please, Proteus devs, help me fix this.

Ya i had the same issue.I looked for a while and found this

You go to proteus
go to properties
go to betas
and select beta steam_1_2-
It worked for me
