Strategy game , you don't have any aparently , so you find this game ♥♥♥♥ but some people will like it.

Oh look the same excuse everyone else uses for every other genre. "U R T00 DUM T0 PLAI" Even though there isn't even a practice available. I'm constantly searching for new and interesting games including strategies, FPS, RPG, 2D and browser (any type really) but this is just a ♥♥♥♥ tier game.

Thanks for sharing your feelings, but you're not giving any reasons for your distaste. What was it that made you bother to come over here just to insult the KS-backers and the game itself? I am really baffled. Also, you seem to have played just one match. Is that sufficient?

Well considering I didn't even get to practice before the match yes that's completely sufficient, should have a practice at LEAST. Oh also the matchmaking system made excuses for it's mediocrity stating something along the lines of "It's okay to get matched with higher ranked better players because if you win (even though there's not a chance in hell) you get more renown and xp but if you lose you and you were stomped without getting a chance to learn, don't get poop. Thank you for not being a pen0r.

It's true that the introduction battle is too short to called decent practice. However, there are a couple of tutorial videos you can access from the top-right hand horner, that explain things more in detail. In overall, I believe the game takes more the "learn-as-you-play-spin". I don't know if that's a good idea for a PvP game, but I don't have a big experience with those games anyhow... Actually, this is the first and only PvP game I've played. Man, I remember how anxious I was on my first battles. I was fearing that killed units would "stay dead", i.e. I wouldn't be able to use them. Fortunately, they live to fight another day! At first I was losing like 70% of the matches, but once I got the hang of it, it got better and I started losing only 20-30% of the matches.

The single-player "campaign" feature and the vs-AI battles are two things that are constantly demanded. Also, I have argued about several seemingly minor things that I think make a big negative impact to new-players. I believe the devs just don't have time to address them because they are working on the single-player game. Specifically, the issue of allowing battles vs higher-power players was a choice made to reduce waiting times due to the relatively small playerbase. Between the no-battle and hard-battle choice, I would personally pick the latter. There's useful things to be learned, and great satisfaction if you actually beat a higher-power player! Also, as you rise in team-power, you'll notice that the power-difference is less critical, i.e. a p11-vs-p12 battle is much more equal than a p1-vs-p2 one. In anycase, earning some renown with every battle, win or lose, is good because you can promote your units and reach the "standard" level of power-6 quite easily. That is the easiest power-level to find matches so you can just stay there and practice or experiment with new things.

What drew me to this game was the awesome aesthetics and the novel game-mechanics. I think that if you give it a second chance with a more up-hearted approach, you'll start enjoying it more, once you get over these first few difficulties. The community and the interaction with the devs is also quite interesting (for me). Try joining the stoicstudio.com forums too.

Hope to see you in-game!

OP Plays for barely 1hr and his bio is "I play god damned video games and I get really ♥♥♥♥ing angry, almost all the time. I play wow too, if you're not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ then we might be able to play some day. "

Enough said.

Way to join a thread that was posted in September you clown. I didn't read any of it, WAY too irrelevant.

Oh, so I'm guessing you like the game now. Enough said.
CatintheHat♥ Nov 25, 2013 @ 4:55pm
Nope it's still ♥♥♥♥ and I haven't touched it since. The way you keep saying "Enough said" is really obnoxious, I say that without rancor.

Okay. Enough said.

I don't know if that has been make clear, but the KS backing campaign was NOT for this free PvP game (Factions), but for the single player game to be released at 14-Jan-2014. So, no need to bring KS into the discussion as we haven't seen the final game. (Note: I am not a backer of that game).

In fact, the KS backers didn't know they would be getting this PvP game, i.e. it wasn't on the original planned goals/milestones. Moreover, some of the backers felt bad about this side-project/offspring, thinking it would derail StoicStudio from the single-player game they backed them for. But, lets not bring up that discussion here, as your thread concerns Factions.

if you like chess..this game is akin to that. iv got 300 hours in this game. its pretty awesome imo. its all about setting up...and playing a fair match. beat another player evenly. out think them. move for move. if you cant/dont want that kind of game, yes stay away from this.....but otherwise....very very very good game!

This isn't like chess in any way except for the fact it's 1v1, turn based and you both control half of the pieces on the board. Maybe I would have liked it if there was practice and the matchmaking wasn't ♥♥♥♥. If this is like chess then Final fantasy tactics must be just like chess too?
