Crash to desktop
It seems that whenever I launch the game on my older computer it gets to the loading screen and then imediately crashes with an error message. Is there a reason for this? It never did this before.

My specs are:
Windows XP Professional
1022 mb of RAM
Dual Core 1.8 ghz processor

I don't know what my video card is, but does this game really need a great video card?
Also I know my specs are terrible. This computer is from 2006. But I used to be able to play this game on this computer and now I can't.

You system specs seem adequate to play the game. Each steam update seems to bring about different little problems to the game. These CTDs are quite common it seems.

Trying an update on your Adobe Flash Player might solve this. Also, try searching through these steam-forums or the game's forums (http://stoicstudio.com/forum/forum.php) for a solution. If nothing comes up, you can try contacting the support at help@stoicstudio.com or support@stoicstudio.com.

Eh, its fine. I have another newer computer that can run this game just fine. It is just annoying that I was able to run it fine a while ago and now I can't...

Thanks for replying though. :)

Anytime :D

I urge you to re-try this, because sometimes, after a steam-update it might work again. Also, I remember of a player that had a similar issue. In the end he tweaked something trough Steam to disable the sound (I don't exactly remember, but it included adding an option of "--falsesound" or "-nosound" somewhere in Steam, after the game-client executable), which made the game start normally and play faster and smoother.

I guess this is a pretty widespread issue then...Ah well, if it came about in an update, chances are they will fix it with another. I can wait. My newer-ish computer can run the game fine.

It could be somehow related to the game being developped mostly on Flash. This language is potent but quite prone to buggy behaviour. I am sure that when the devs turn their full attention to Factions, all this will be solved.

Also, the Saga (the single-player) is built mostly in the same "platform" as Factions (i.e. they share a lot of files and functions etc), so we could hopefully expect several things to be corrected along with that release.
