Regarding the achievement "Flush"
I just finished what I had expected would unlock the "Flush" achievement, getting 8 droids in ascending security order: in this run I ended up with 101, 102, 128, 280, 296, 300, 346, 376, in that order. (I closed the game already, those might not be the exact numbers, but I double and triple checked that they're ascending in game)

Unfortunately, the achievement didn't unlock. Am I doing this wrong or is the achievement bugged? Maybe there is some trick to making the game check for it.

Thanks!

I believe you have the security LEVEL has to be in ascending order (ie 100 series, 200, 300, 400 etc etc)

That's what I thought at first too, but with the way the AI works, it's practically impossible to keep a 100 series alive when there are 800s out, and you have to keep it alive long enough to restock transfer points several times over!

Maybe if there was a way to set all of the droids on defensive, but as it is they charge in ahead of me and get one-shot =(

Yup, it's security level that's got to be 1...8 or 2...9. It's hard.

I had a tough time with that achievement aswell.
After some hours of trying (and im not the one that gives up fast), I came to the conclusion that its friggin impossible and I wont torture myself any further.

Apparently only 0.2% of players have managed Flush.

Do they have to be alive at the same time? If so, it should be made clear, because I just dedicated a playthrough to this and captured 9 droids in ascending security level, but didn't keep them alive. Well, it's impossible to keep them alive, because they're so suicidal.

And can checkpoints be used for this?

Yes, you've got to 8 droids alive simultaneously (1..8 or 2..9). Some droids are less suicidal than others. Go for armoured droids if you can, and avoid multicore brains if you want this achievement (multicore brains = actively seek and destroy foes)

Checkpoints do indeed work, as your squad is saved in the checkpoint.

Ah, this clears up a lot of things. Thanks for the comment.

It all depends on what droids you've got... they all behave subtly differently. My favourite tactic is to have one super buffed droid alive, usually a heavily armoured one; then I keep a really crappy droid around just in case I get the finger so it doesn't go straight to game over.

The droids' brains are what governs their suicidality.

Single core brains literally just walk around randomly unless they can see you, in which case, they trundle vaguely in your direction.

Dual core brains will "patrol", walking in straight lines until they hit an obstacle. However if they see an enemy they will attempt to move towards it and attack.

Multicore brains have full pathfinding. They will attempt to follow you around, unless they can see an enemy, in which case they will rush off and try to kill it. There are three variations on behaviour: some droids attempt to jump out in front of enemies and ambush; some droids attempt to sneak up behind enemies and ambush; and some droids just get in as close as they can. Sometimes the description of the droids gives it away.

Droids with long range scanners (hinted at in the descriptions but you can easily check by hovering over them with the target to see their range indicators, or transferring to them) are much more likely to spot enemies and go gallavanting off.

Another tactic you might be able to try is to clear out a safe area somewhere on a map and move them one by one over there and try to leave them behind. But most of the maps are too small for that, and really, they're there basically as emergency extra lives if your current squeeze buys the farm.

When collecting the droids, do they have to be in asceding order on the screen (i.e 1...8) or can they be in any order for as long as u have 1...8 or 2...9?

Any order you like.
