Battledroid MMO project
To avoid the situation with gameplay tips scattered all over the forums perhaps we should have a topic dedicated to the WIP game project. First bits of information:
No, Battledroid is a free-to-play asynchronous MMO which we're hopefully going to Kickstart in November. The multiplayer game we're talking about here was codenamed Steampunks and involves realtime shooting and so on. That will probably come after Battledroid, assuming Battledroid fails to earn us any money. Which would be par for the course.

Single-player experience?

First question - is the mentioned RPG DLC for Droid Assault the same project or are they separate?

Totally separate - the RPG DLC for DA is currently paused as we're strapped for cash and it'll never make its development time back at the current stage.

I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe you should rely on crowd funding for both projects. I'm thrilled to see another fruit of your work, to be honest.

Another question. I'd imagine the DA RPG would look a lot like the original DA. What about the Battledroid? DA, Planetary Annihilation or maybe something like Mech Warrior style? Throw us a bone ;)

Battledroid we're still working on the style... imagine Droid Assault, in the same sorts of scales as Revenge of the Titans, for now. As it happens we aim to launch a Kickstarter at the end of November and we'll be looking to raise £60k ($90k) to fund us for 6 months to put content in the game and polish it to "released" state.

OK, so "more like DA" it is ;) Any WIP shots or concepts to get us fired up? Some trivia maybe?
Looking forward to the KS launch!

All will be revealed this weekend! Well, some will be revealed.

Have you considered going in on an indie bundle? I believe you mentioned in a past blog that Humble has grown too popular at this point and spaces are impossible to come by but what about some of the others like Groupees or Indie Gala? Humble also does a weekly sale although I imagine it's just as popular/hard to get in to as their normal bundles.
Bruticis Jul 31, 2013 @ 1:20pm
That's a horrible idea, the humble bundles are massive race to the bottom schemes that steal well deserved money from small studios pockets. People pay a few cents per game just to add to their steamcount. Worst idea ever.

Does't stop you from buying them Brut~
cprince  [developer] Jul 31, 2013 @ 1:24pm
Well, we're a small studio, and we could do with the money. However they're going to have to make a change or two before we're quite happy doing a Weekly.
Metro Jul 31, 2013 @ 1:26pm
Sorry to hear that. Perhaps some of the other bundles are more favorable though I admit I have no idea what kind of arrangements/compensation they offer for developers.

Have you considered raising the prices just a hair? The games are well worth it!
cprince  [developer] Jul 31, 2013 @ 3:50pm
I know, but Valve are shall we say extremely reluctant to let us increase prices to a more reasonable level. IMHO RotT should be $20, DA, and UT should both be $15 and TA should be $10, which would, if they sold at their current rate, mean we could develop Battledroid without external funding. You might think sales would plummet if the prices of the games increased by 50% or 100% but it is quite likely they'll only dip slightly. It's also much more likely we'd simply make twice as much money in the sales, which is where 80% of our money comes from in the end.

Hmm hmm it seems we have been accepted on Steam already :) We'll have test builds up to a few invitees on 16th August.
