Bug in upgrade system
.. ok maybe I'm not 'getting it' but I'm a pretty serious player (love the game mechanics.. level 35 - hah, easy).. and I've noticed that a ton of upgrades are wasted on various bots.

More specifically none of the weapon power upgrades work on them. I've tried timing the recharge, battery upgrades before-and-after.. nada.

Maybe you're calling 'realism' on this but then why do the 'sharp bullet' and 'bouncy bullet' upgrades work?

Maybe you're calling game balancing.. ok but why not just make the game more difficult further in?

All in all I would say that key part for me is that if an upgrade is wasted on a bot it shouldn't pick it up. At least that would make it a bit consistent.

Alternate Suggestion: create a simple game rule editor where you can play a little with the bot stats. Let the community suggest a fair combo =)

Actually I agree, it shouldn't pick up a useless upgrade. I'll pop that in the enhancements hat.

Doh, and here I was hoping to have a rocket launcher (by far my fav bot) that could ... light up a room, in the positive way!

This does beg a minor question, if most upgrades don't really work on rocket bots, why are there multiple rocket bots at all? Most of them are really similar.. I'm sure the hit points vary a bit but they seem all equally powerful. A bit more variation would be good..

Anyway thanks for the game, really good (in fact I own all puppygames games =) )

Gotcha. Makes sense. At any rate if there was anything I would suggest doing for the next version is indeed perhaps recalibrating the upgrade/difficulty curves. There are 2 levels that are an order of magnitude more difficult than the levels surrounding it.

- Level 35 is typically survivable for me because I prefer nimble rocketlauncher dudes but is quite the jarring difficulty jump
- Level 55 is near impossible, you start off in a tiny level surrounded by A615's.

- Armoured enemies (incl turrets).. I find it a bit strange that K999 can't puncture shields of some of the high level turrets. To not be able to take out turrets is almost a death sentence.
- Resetting sharp bullets. You could argue a bouncy bullet phase bomb is a choice some people like, but sharp bullets on a phase bomb droid basically kills its usefulness. Perhaps devise another upgrade, for example "high explosive" that adds a bit of AOE/blast radius effect to bullets and cancels bounce/sharp effects?

Turrets are intentionally nastier than droids. You do of course have an alternative way of dealing with them. Capture them instead!

Some weapon upgrade combinations are intentionally silly - sharp phase bombs being one of them. Not useless... just... silly.

Level 55 seems survivable... got plenty of people getting on to level 75 and beyond so I guess they've figured something out! But we're always tweaking and tuning. Difficulty jumps are no fun.
