Am I doing it wrong?
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can't seem to get past a certain level (danger level, horde of bots, I dont even).

So basically how I'm playing this is just shooting droids till I get enough transfer points to switch over to a droid I like, and then pick up all the power-ups with that droid. Works fine, I get 1 droid that's pretty rounded, yet when I get to this certain map, it just faces too much firepower to survive, even with armor and shielding.

I find that creating a small army of droids doesn't really do anything - they just keep getting themselves wrecked by standing in the line of fire or getting destroyed by the regular boss.

So, what's the better tactic?

Also, how the hell do you even generate transfer points? I think you just get them by destroying droids (and the occasional +1 transfer power-up) but the game isnt clear on it

And since Im suggesting stuff, why not some rudimentary control over the AI-controlled droids that you hijacked? Like, "stay the ♥♥♥♥ back and dont get killed" or "Follow and focus fire on my target".

Scoring points creates xfer points. You need more points to reach higher xfer capacity - 1000pts gets you the first xfer point, 2000 the next, then 3000, and so on. Saving up enough for a really awesome droid such as the K999 or B821 takes a lot of blasting. You can of course speed this up a bit by getting your score multiplier up, which you do by destroying enemies in quick succession.

No plans for any AI control of the bots; it's an arcade game, not a RTS! They just do their thing. Multicore droids are likely to be most helpful but get blown up in a battle; single-core droids are most likely to be useless but remain safer.

As for tactics... well, armoured droids is the key.
