Tough continuing from a level checkpoint
I only like to play arcade type games like this for 15 to at most 30 minutes at a time. So I can't make it through in one sitting and I have to depend on the level checkpoints (the save game is ffine but I often don't do so well and I don't want to start from the beginning again).

The problem for me is that when using the level checkpoints you start off with a useless robot that on the higher levels gets killed very quickly. Since I don't have many points I can't transfer to any robots that are reasonably powerful. I'm sure a good player could get around this, but I'm just a casual gamer when it comes to arcade games.

I liked the level checkpoints on Ultratron much better. Ultratron would not only save the level but also all the goodies I had accumulated. I guess I'm not a good enough arcade game player for Droid Assault and as a result it's not much fun for me.

That's why we put the checkpoints in! But I think you might be playing sub-optimally if you've got such a big problem here.

You get more initial xfer points depending on how high the checkpoint is; any even moderately high checkpoint gives you enough xfer points to find an armoured droid. Armour is the key to survival. There's a level 4 droid with twin heavy blasters - P497 or something like that I believe - which is the "go-to" droid for checkpoint starts. As soon as you've got it you're more or less safe; then if you've got another point or two, grab a smaller droid and start using that.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, although I got a little further by searching for the "ideal" robot to take over, I still don't get very far. I guess it's just not my type of game.

Maybe you could do a Let's Play and we could watch what you're doing? Might be something really simple you could do to get better.

Maybe also you'll be better off with the RPG mode we're making which is a different kettle of fish altogether :)
