Start with Assassin Droid
So, I signed up for your newsletter (Again!) and got my code to play with the Assassin Droid at the very start so I can completely break the game, you know, for fun!

But inevitably I messed up, tried to open the pause menu to change some options and only succeeded in closing the game. I didn't realise at the time that it saves the game when you do that, so my Assassin Droid never got beyond level 1.

Is there any way to get another? I recall asking the dev about this issue with Revenge of The Titans and he said that bonus was hardly worth it, he will not convince me this time!

heh :D

You'd have to wait until we bump the major version number of the game to be presented with another opportunity I'm afraid. Maybe some kindly hax0r will tweak it for you :)

Do your games even attract Hax0rs? I've never seen trainers or mods for any of them. (Not that I've looked terribly hard, Cheat Engine was good enough for RoTT)

I'd look into learning how myself, but it'd probably be a fair bit of work just to ruin the balance of the game.

was wondering the same thing. Lost the assassin bot, a pity since it was crazy fun to blast things with laser :D

You can reset Droid Assault to its initial state by following these steps:

1. Clear your Steam Cloud savegame

If you don't know how to do that, here are the detailed instructions for Windows 7:

Originally posted by -MISS-:
  • Exit Steam.

  • Open Windows File Explorer (Windows key + E) and go to:
    Steam\userdata\<your Steam ID number>\219200

  • Delete the file:
    remotecache.vdf

  • In Windows File Explorer, clic on the address bar (or access it with Alt + D), type:
    powershell
    ...and press Enter.

  • Make sure that your prompt is in the correct directory —219200 in this case—, and enter the following command in PowerShell:
ls -file -r | ac -value "foo"

  • Close PowerShell, launch Steam and launch Droid Assault. This dialog will pop up:
    Steam - Cloud Sync Conflict[i.imgur.com]

  • Before choosing an option, delete all the contents of the folder (but not the folder itself):
    Steam\userdata\<your Steam ID number>\219200

  • After you emptied the folder, choose UPLOAD TO THE STEAM CLOUD. This will effectively clear your Steam Cloud data.

  • Don't exit the game yet, or it will synchronize the savegame with the cloud again. Disable Steam Cloud before, by unchecking the option[i.imgur.com]:
Steam → Settings → Cloud → Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for applications which support it

  • Now exit the game, and exit Steam.

  • Delete the folder:
    Steam\userdata\<your Steam ID number>\219200

  • Launch Steam and enable Steam Cloud[i.imgur.com] again. The folder:
    Steam\userdata\<your Steam ID number>\219200
...shouldn't be automatically created. This means you successfully cleared your Steam Cloud data for Droid Assault. You can further verify it in your Library, by right clicking Droid Assault, and going to:
    Properties → Cloud

  • If you have 0 bytes stored[i.imgur.com], you have successfully cleared your Steam Cloud data for this game.

2. Delete the local folders

Delete the following folders:

  • %LOCALAPPDATA%\DroidAssault
  • %USERPROFILE%\.droid_assault_1.91

3. Delete the Droid Assault registry keys

Open RegEdit, by pressing Windows key + R, typing:
regedit
...and pressing Enter.

Delete the following keys:

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\net\puppygames\applet\/Droid /Assault
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\net\puppygames\applet\/Droid /Assault /Local
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\net\puppygames\installer\installer\/Droid/Assault

Note: you could probably get away with just going to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\net\puppygames\applet\/Droid /Assault
...and deleting the following entry:
nagstate = R/E/D/E/E/M/E/D
But I prefer to be thorough.

4. Enjoy your "fresh install" of Droid Assault!

Now you can register yourself again for the Puppy Games Newsletter and enter your code to unlock the reward.
