All Puppygame games crash at startup :\
All the Puppygames games I own crash at startup. First I'll get a popup about the game in question not shutting down properly the last time I played, I get the relevant loading bar/screen pop up, and the moment the loading is complete, the game will shut down without any other notice or popup of any kind.

I don't understand what's going on, especially seeing how this can't be a specs issue.

How about trying some new drivers?

Thing is, this is a brand new laptop I bought on which Im trying to play. All with the drivers and whatnot updated.

Brand new computers never come with new drivers.

Well...I checked for any updates that might have been there and sure enough, all my drivers were up to date.

I'll bet you £1000 that your video drivers are totally broken OEM drivers and that there are newer ones that actually work available.

Like I said, I did the MS update service (no updates), as well as redownloading and applying the available drivers from the HP website available for my laptop. I'm going to reinstall Titan Attacks/Ultratron and see if that helps, but I'm not too hopeful it would work since this is what I did everytime...

Figured it out, I think. It wasn't even driver related. Turns out that the Steam overlay was causing the issue, turning it off made all games run just fine with zero issues.

Aha! Though that actually is driver-related. The Steam Overlay hooks in to the display drivers; it's normally reliable unless the drivers are ... fragile :)

Fair enough, I'm just glad to get my Ultrarton fix again. :)

I'm not very techy and I don't know what a Steam "Overlay" is. I'm having the same startup issue. Can you please explain to me the process you used to see what happens for me and if it works. I run a Mac 10.6.8

Mac users - the output in your System Console is particularly enlightening - pastebinning it will go a long way to diagnosis.

(So will upgrading your OS ... 10.6 is kinda old now and getting increasingly difficult to support)
