I don't see the benefit of vinyl today. Some people say it sounds better because its analog, but at this point you're just fooling yourself. The music is all mastered digitally now-a-days, so you've already lost the benefit of analog sound from the source.

In other words, you're just listening to analog playback of digital sound. Which really just happens at the DAC on digital devices anyway. Have fun with your pops and scratching I guess.

So about the quality, today I asked my guitar teacher about vinyl giving a better sound and he explained it to me, but to explain it to you I'll have to draw you some sketches. But yes, the vinyl gives better sound and I hard something about CD losing some sounds during syncing or whatever, but vinyls are so sexy either way. I'd pay for a "12.

What's wrong with all the OGG files in the game's folder? That's the soundtrack! Just google (or use the link below) for the open source ogg vorbis filter and you can listen to the music in your favourite music player.

No, CDs do not lose sound, and no, vinyl does not objectively have more/better sound as a format.

You can have a preference for it, happily, but it is actually inferior.

Of course, mastering in the modern age for CDs renders them awful sounding for various reasons unrelated to the format (and these bad-sounding masters can be transferred to vinyl--indeed, they have been!)

--Owner of a couple hundred records who still buys them anyway, so don't take this as "I look down upon you vinyl listeners," I just try to remain realistic about it. It's an experience sort of thing.

Vinyls are just nostalgia + it's easier and more enjoyable to DJ with them than CDs. But since today's music is already made via digital studios using a PC or a Mac (which is actually PC), the music is already made of digital signal, not analog. It won't turn it into real analog richness, if you press a vinyl out of it, it just adds even more (analog) noise to it.

Depends on the mastering process. There was a point where vinyl was superior to CDs just because it took time for the technology to catchup, and there abouts I'm talking about the 90's. These days, no even time to time the mastering process gets messed up with an odd CD here and there. Currently these day I wouldn't want a CD of anything much. Having a lossless digital format of whatever is ideal.
