Just how fast the reactations time have to be to kill makes the left thumb stick useless need a pad which is closer to the controller and easier to move around. at least a choice on custom controls would be nice.

I have no trouble playing with the XBox 360 pad. In fact, I greatly prefer it over the "WASD + mouse" set up. Namely due to the fact that I have two monitors and Hotline Miami does nothing to stop the cursor from going past the game screen and onto my second desktop, and if it's like an intense moment and I don't really pay attention to what I'm doing, I'll contstantly be clicking my second desktop, resulting in the game alt-tabbing. Which is annoying as hell. This doesn't happen with the pad though.

Maybe you're not playing totally correctly? Do you use the "lock-on" mechanic?

Well, maybe you just haven't gotten the hang of it yet. It took me a while as well to get to know the controls correctly.

You can use Joy2Key or Xpadder and map the pad to WASD, probably.

I dont care what you play with, but I am sitting in front of a 42 inch tv on a couch and still using a mouse keyboard lol.

I'm speedrunning this game and let me tell you that you're faster with a gamepad.
You don't actually need precision shots in this game, but you do need fast and precise looking directions for your character.
