A portion of the proceeds go to the respective artists, it's pretty much available in order that people who enjoy the soundtrack can support those who created it. There isn't anything to stop you using the files included in the directory, the same way there is nothing to stop you pirating the game itself. Posting this was purely an innocuous statement that if you want to buy it, it's there; However, I do agree that a choice of format would have been a wise decision and made it more appealing.
