ERROR since the newest update !
A few minutes ago, the game was automatically updated and when I try to play it, this shows up:
action number 1
of Create Event
for object objDevolver:

Error defining an external function.

Go into the game's directory (mine is): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\hotline_miami go into the folder called redist and install the app inside.
Also, if you haven't already update your .NET to 4.0 and relaunch the game.
Hope this helps :)

I still get the following error when I try to finish chapter 17 which resets me back to the 1st floor
I have this error since I bought the game in early Nov, can't progress and I'm stuck there for months. They should put in a way to skip lvls.

action number 1
of Draw Event
for object objPause:

Failed to access attribute - Invalid song ID or filename.

There is a way to skip, you can edit the save file. I know because I had do that for one chapter. But I don't know how anymore, one of the devs posted details a while ago, maybe you can find it.

I just bought the game, and I can't even get it to run. Windows 8, 64-bit, Xbox controller. I get the same error, and I've tried the solution suggested in this thread, to no avail.

Hi guys, for some reason, when I logged out and loggen in again today, Steam re-downloaded the same update (not really sure if it's the same update but it's also 18MB like the one a few hours ago) and this time I don't see the error anymore, the game is run well again.
