This game should not be out
Regardless of how much people love this game and praise it. This is NOT in a releasable state. I crashed on start up multiple times. After fixing that I got the objDevolver error multiple times which would either let the game run or crash it yet again, and if it did start up it had no music. Then after fixing all of those thanks to the help of these forums + google. The game runs slow, roughly around 20 fps. My rig can handle most any modern game on high-ultra. So its clearly either a compatibility or engine issue. Then I read that I have to change my own resolution (not the in-game one because the devs didn't include that) to fix the slow down... Yes its a simple fix, buts its the issue of the fact that I'm jumping through so many hoops to play this game (and I still can't play it!).

Game works fine for me, fact that you have a litttle trouble working does not mean games shouldn't be out. Got to love whinny ♥♥♥♥♥s

1. I'm not the only one having these problems, there are other people.

2. It's not a little trouble, its a number of errors and crashes. Apparently I can look forward to more if I actually ever decide to boot up the game again.

3. Calling me a whinny ♥♥♥♥♥ just makes you seem like a 5 year old. Grow up and realize that people are having major problems with a game they purchased. Its not like I just don't like the game, its the fact that as of right now its unplayable for me.

so because YOU are having probelms STOP EVERYTHING.
OutOfReachCake Jan 5, 2013 @ 11:58am
No, because me and a number of other people are having problems, there should either be a warning at least or this should be taken down. If you actually read the other threads in here you would see there are a decent number of people who cannot play this game in its current state. I have honestly never had this much of a problem with any program I've run on my computer including things like the UT3 Map Editor and Maya 2012 and those programs are known to crash a lot. The fact that I'm jumping through so many hoops to get this game running when the devs should have fixed this already is sad.

Have you tried running Hotline Miami's executable in Comparability Mode for Windows XP SP3? I'm running Windows 8 64 bit and most of the problems disappeared when I did so.

Just tried that out, but it made no difference. I still get major slowdown.

game runs fine.

A lot of things won't run in Win 8.

PC games now are bugfree compared to how they used to be. I remember having to format my drive, get more RAM and having to use a console hack at the Society of Leopold to play Vampire: the Masquerade Bloodlines when it came out. They had a scripting error making the game impossible to beat. This was before you could download a patch 3 seconds later on steam either.

Ask for a refund and stop playing?

Game runs great for me.

Its not the game thats you shoud be blaming, it's your PC. Sure, Hotline Miami is hardly the most smooth running game in the world, but its not fair that you blame the developers. Many people have problems with the game, I am lucky that the only issue I have is Steam works not working. Dennaton are constantly working to solve these issuses, and for many people the new options they added have helped alot.

How is it anything but the devs fault? That error that I and many other people got if you actually look through these forums is a programming fault. The music not playing, also programming fault, its a simple file call, I know I've used Game Maker (the program used to make hotline miami). When my PC can run any other game in my library, but has trouble with this one. I have a hard time believe it's my PCs fault.

The game is buggy, it has been since its release if the discussion forum has any truth to it. With all the same problems I've run into, and 2 months between when they started and now, it seems like the devs are either in over their heads with these probelms or they aren't trying. I may not be part of the majority who are running the game fine, but I'm not the only one having these problems. People need to stop defending this game because its indie. It should adhere to the same standards as any other game.

I don't care how good it is, I can't experience that as long as it remains in the state its in. I think that sucks considering how much good I've heard about the game. I want to play, I won't get a refund because I want to support them and I would just end up rebuying it the future when its fixed, but as far as I can tell, this game has some major game breaking problems and we shouldn't let that slide.

My pc, although being capable likes to run almost all games poorly, take Killing Floor for example, the guns are invisible and everything runs in slowdown, i've missed the last 10 events and waited update after update with no fixes. Hotline Miami runs perfectly with the occasional crash when I exit to menu but my save data is saved beforehand so all I need to do is restart the game. What I am trying to say is for a two man team they've done a fine job and are working hard to fix these problems, compare that to a fairly large team that still hasn't solved my issues after I payed for every one of their DLC's bought the game and put hundreds of hours of time in. Bottom line chill out and wait a little while.

Jesus all this defence force, the game is buggy. Blame GameMaker, that is what it is made in. I'm also having problems with it, but not slowdown etc, but random crashes. Running Windows 8 x64 here.

Yup, my computer that has had no problems with any other games or volitile programs like maya or UTE 3 is terrible.

I do blame GameMaker mostly because its simply not a stable engine. It's amazing for prototypes do to how fast you can develop something, but I just don't feel like its ready for a full game unless you truly know how to handle it. I say that because Dustforce seems to run fine on my computer and its made in GM as well.
