Alienware Mode Crash
So, i got an alienware m14x r2 for christmas and bought hotline miami in the sale the other day and was delighted to find that it had an option to use the alienfx lights. sadly, the game will not boot if you select the option. You can activate it and navigate around the menu but thats it really. i got a crash message going like this

___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 1
of Create Event
for object objBackgroundColor:

In script scrAlienWarePink:
Error in code at line 1:
if global.alienware=1 external_call(global.iAlienRotatePink);

at position 44: Unknown variable iAlienRotatePink

At the time, the alienfx lights had a pink theme, so i assume that the game tries to call the alienfx function to control the lights, but it crashes when the alienfx has a theme applied. so i dunno. maybe the game accesses the wrong function, focusing on the current theme rather than something else. or it could be an alienware problem. anyway anyone else run into this? any suggestions?

I seem to remember seeing that the alienware mode has not been fully configured by the devs yet. It's probably best to keep it off until it has been safely implemented.

thats quite disappointing then. is there any sort of statement to be found on the issue? i can see that the amount of players who would experience this is relatively small, but still.

I can't seem to find the original post from them regarding it, but I could have sworn I had seen that it has been disabled for now. Perhaps send over an email to their support address with the details you posted above: dennatonsupport@hotmail.com

Whoa, I've been getting the same error message too (I have an MX14 too). Should I email the devs about it?

It seems they are now aware of it, so best to just be patient and play the waiting game :)

Hey there,

just got Hotline Miami with Humble Bundle 8 and freaked out as I saw the Alienware Mode :D
But then I got the same error message as host. Its been a while since the last post here... so is there any hope this will be fixed?

Im playing on an Alienware M14x R2

EDIT:
When I enable alienware in settings and quit the game I get:

Hey, I was also getting that problem with the same model (not sure how the hardware matches, but I suspect that the AlienFX stuff is the same). Anyway, I opened up the Alienware software to handle it and updated the FX stuff. After a restart, it started working for me.

I tried to install Command Center A00, didnt work.
Then I tried to update within command center to A01 (latest version), restarted and still have this problem :(
Is it possible that the game doesnt find the LightFX.dll? I tried to copy it to "System", "System32" (where it was before) and "SysWOW46" without success

Ok, I tried to test it with the Beta (code hlm).
Now the resolution is perfect (1600x900), but no matter if alienware is checked or not just nothing happens when I play the game. Not even an error message. The only difference is that the game crashes when I quit.
