Crashing on Lvl 6 and not starting again

So, I first had trouble running the game, had to go into the redist folder and run the app there and then restart my computer just to play the game. Then I got to lvl 6 (Clean Hit) and the game crashed. I had to repeat the previous steps again to get it to run, then it crashed as soon as I loaded lvl 6 again. Now it won't even start. Sometimes I get an error message (below) and sometimes it just freezes and does nothing.

I've tried validating the files, I've run the redist app several times and restarted my computer and nothing happened. I've searched the internet and haven't been able to find a fix that works. Has anyone else had success with this or have I pretty much wasted my monies? Thanks in advance.

I'm running windows 8 pro 64-bit (speaking of wasted monies...). The error message I sometimes get is
