Possible fixes includes:
- Updating your Intel graphics driver: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect ;
- Changing compatibility mode to Windows 7 or Vista.
For the second fix:Right-click on the game in your library -> Properties -> Local files -> Browse local files -> Right-click on "HotlineGL.exe" -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7.
If it still doesn't work try again with Windows Vista (Service Pack 2).
Yet I'm afraid there's not much you can do mate, since this is a hardware limitation. Sorry about that :/
Others like you have stated this only happens after some time, so what they usually do is restart the game before it starts to glitch so as to flush the graphics memory.
Dedicated graphics card are built with a specialized architecture designed to handle gaming.
You can't compare the speed or processing power of CPU and GPU, since their purpose and thus internal architecture are different. A GPU simply cannot handle the type of computations that a CPU does, and while a CPU can do the same computations as a GPU does, it will not do it efficiently and will be slow in comparison even if his processing speed is theoretically superior.
Integrated graphics processor DO have an architecture analogous to that of a GPU, but since they are integrated into the CPU they lack many things, notably a huge number of dedicated graphics cores and a huge memory to store data, which is why they perform poorly for gaming.
That's also why most recent mid-to-high-end laptops have both an integrated graphics processor and a dedicated graphics card.
Will be getting a high end laptop soon with my extra university money, just don't tell them that XD
