No masks available

Running into the issue where I have no masks available. As expected, none of the proposed solutions do anything at all.

I have attempted the following:

* Editing the first zero in saves.dat to a 1
* Deleting stats.sav
* Deleting saves.dat
* Deleting tempsave.sav
* Reinstalling the game

None of these solutions work, as they simply result in me having zero masks when I start the game, keeping me from playing.

What do I need to do to actually play this game? It worked fine before this "updated/original" launcher.

You had the good feeling but barked up the wrong tree. Your save file indeed got corrupted.

But save files for the Updated version of the game are located in "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\HotlineMiami\SaveData.sav", which is why all your tries didn't have a single effect (even reinstalling).

Delete this file and you'll be fine ;)

Skymirrh's fix should work. It sounds like the file in "My Documents\My Games\HotlineMiami" was set to read-only, or perhaps the folder is owned by another user on your PC. Just make sure you have permissions to write to that file, and the game should save your progress just fine. If you can't get write access there, I suggest you play the original version instead.
