Changing Graphics
I made an old spoof picture where I faked a modded hotline miami by making some custom sprites and covering the normal sprites. Is there any way you could ACTUALLY change the sprits/graphics of this game? I have not seen any mods or hacks for hotline miami. Has nobody even figured out the code yet? I know you can change all the music and sounds, but are the sprites possible without editing code? I mean, this game is on Game Maker (heavily modified obviously), so all the sprites should be available somewhere, right?

This is an interesting question. Sadly, I don't know.

Anyone?

Original version used GameMaker and a custom level and had been made a long time ago.

Updated version uses PhyreEngine and cannot be modified in the same way. You can modify Updated files by editing "HotlineMiami_GL.wad". This is not a regular WAD file, just a custom archive containing all the game files.
You can find an extractor for these file on GitHub[github.com] or just take a look at the file using an hexadecimal editor.

This will help you understand the structure of the WAD, but I fear there's no script for the reverse operation (packaging back into WAD), so you'll either have to do it yourself or modify "in place" on the original WAD file.
