Get A Life Achievement didn't work?!
I finally received my last A+ in one of the chapters of Hotline Miami - really wanted to get that achievement down. But I didn't get it. Got A+ on every possible chapter (except those, where you can't get a grade), but it didn't pop up. How can I fix this? Even repeated the A+ on that and some other levels (which wasn't easy for me XD) and still didn't get it... any help?!

Hello, are you playing on Original or Updated version? Original version is known for having buggy achievements, you should use Updated instead. See here for possible fixes if Updated doesn't work.

I'm playing the updated version, but I'm sure I received some of the "A+" grades BEFORE the update came out (long ago). I looked at your link (and at some other posts in the forum), but I already tried all of it (playing levels again to check the achievements, etc.).... BTW, my achievemts.dat says (don't know, if it helps):

11111101111111111111111111
111111111
11111111111110

"Achievements.dat" is not used by Updated, this is a legacy file for Original ;)

Could you take a look at the file "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\HotlineMiami\SaveData.sav" instead, using Notepad++[notepad-plus-plus.org] or any hexadecimal editor (i.e. not Notepad, it doesn't handle Unix line endings)?

Please do not touch anything in that file, or at least make a backup before, because even if you just replace a number if might definitively corrupt your save file.

What you want to do is check you have something like this in the middle:
<a number which might be written normally or like this: 1.12804e+006>

Ok so as you might have guessed, a 15 means A+. I see you have a 13 and a 14, meaning you have both an A- and an A left in some levels (the second 14 is a glitch from the Original to Updated save conversion).

Make sure you DO have an A+ in each and every level.
Yuki Jul 17 @ 6:01pm
Ah okay, thx!! But I have an A+ in every level, at least it says so in the selection menu in-game (and I remember doing it on every level, b/c it was very hard XD). Is it even possible to have a different output in the game? Was there maybe an error writing that information into that file?

Are you positively sure you play the Updated version of the game?
Yuki Jul 18 @ 9:16am
I think so, I have update enabled for Hotline Miami and it's the version with the launcher, leaderboards and so on. Is there a version number I can look after? I don't find one in the menu.
Skymirrh Jul 18 @ 9:18am
Well if you do have leaderboards it's the good one, there is no other version. I don't know why it doesn't give you the achievement if you have A+ in all the levels... :/

As a last resort you can always use Steam Achievement Manager to unlock it.

Hm okay, thank u very much! First I'll try to get the score again (which levels are missing A+?). If it still doesn't work then, I'll maybe try the Manager!

Well, the numbers in the save file correspond to the ingame order. So, if I count well, your 13 in 11th position corresponds to Chapter 10 (it starts at Prelude and not Chapter 1), and your 14 in 14th position corresponds to Chapter 13.
