original mode works though.

This is very strange. Does it happen as well even when you're in windowed mode (Updated version)?

windowed works fine. ive tried messing with the resolution and compatibilty mode and whatnot, but no progress. and went through all the troubleshooting suggestions. thanks for the reply

I see... I am not too sure about how USB -> HDMI adapters work, but it seems they have problems with fullscreen applications. Did you install any software to get the adapter to work? Could you give me references to your cable?

I honestly can't see how a USB port could grab frames from the GPU. I feel like you have a special software that grabs frames and send them to the USB, but that it doesn't work properly for fullscreen applications since they use a different rendering method, and that your software actually only captures Windows desktop compositing.

But I may be wrong, which is why I need references :)

I have a feeling you would face the same issue if you tried to run another game in fullscreen (real fullscreen, not windowed borderless). Could you confirm?

ive played at least a dozen games fullscreened. and it works fullscreen in original mode. i installed something called viewspan but dont need to have it running and all it does is open the windows resolution settings.

That is quite strange... I still think this has something to do with the way the USB controller grabs frames. I might be wrong but I suppose it grabs DirectX without problem (Original is DirectX) whereas OpenGL (Updated) is not supported. It works in windowed mode because when in windowed mode OpenGL renders to the regular compositing window manager, which itself is DirectX.

When in fullscreen, DirectX is not involved. You could check by trying fullscreen on other games using OpenGL, such as Super Hexagon.

I'm at loss... Do you have a laptop with switchable graphics? If yes can you check on which graphics processor does HotlineGL.exe run? (also check Super Hexagon)
