yeah its pretty old and dead, sometimes people get together and there is a full server. there are a few more servers than what you're seeing, you just need to wait for the extra maps to reload. then you get to see the long list of player-less servers

I wanted to set up an own server for friends but I couldn't get it connect. This game needs to be brought to the steam servers just like COH

the game is focused on the campaign. the multiplayer is fun, but i'd rather play the campaign over and over again

There's still a lot of people who play multiplayer, it all depends when and what time you get on. Just a couple of months ago, servers were on all over the place.

The game is still adequately active during European evening hours. There are usually two, maybe three populated servers while the Germans are eating their dinner. If you're looking to play some time other than that, stay up all night to join the Russians when they get home from work, or just make do with us Americans until we go to bed. I think you'll find at least one active server about 18-20 hours a day. The only dead zone happens when every person on the planet is at work or asleep, I guess.

OP, you're not seeing some servers because of your filters. Remove all filters and you'll find that there are quite a few ranked and unranked servers, albeit unpopulated.

Someone else mentioned not being able to set up his own server: It is impossible to host a ranked public server. The only way to own a ranked server is to rent one through a third party, which is difficult these days because very few companies still offer them. It is possible, however, to run an unranked server. This is best done using the dedicated server tool made by Massive and freely available at http://www.massgate.net/downloads.php. Setting up the server is frustrating, tedious, and damn near impossible unless you know what you're doing. Although once it's set up, it's remarkably easy to control and customize.

I'd be suprised if the servers still even work.
