One of, if not the best arcade flight simulators I have ever played. I say "simulator", although calling this game a "simulator" would be like calling Farmville a faithful emulation of the modern agricultural industry. It's very easy to pick up and get the hang of, and the learning curve is very forgiving, though a gamepad is pretty much essential for full enjoyment. There is a great selection of planes, though I highly recommend getting the complete profile mod, as that gives you access to planes you wouldn't normally get to fly, such as the SR71 Blackbird and F-111 Aardvark.
My fear, hatred and disgust toward other human beings causes me to not be a big fan of multiplayer, plus these days servers are few and far-between. Unfortunately, unless you have a century or so to kill, it is impossible to get all the aircraft in single-player alone, so I recommend the complete pack mod again, as it without it it takes hundreds of hours to grind XP to get all the planes in singleplayer (to the point where it stops being fun).
If I had to give negatives, it would be the game is a bit easy, I breezed through the campaign on the hardest difficulty in about 7 hours. Also, while the cockpits and aircraft models are gorgeous, the environments themselves are not very pretty up close, though you'll often be going too fast to notice. Also, your (singleplayer AI) team-mates can be flying aircraft from the 17th century and powered by steam and they can still travel 10 times faster than you, even if you're at full throttle in an SR71 Blackbird, which gets annoying as they will therefore always manage to get to enemies much faster than you can.
But it's a good game. I have about 30 hours on the PS3 version, and am quickly racking up time on the PC too. It runs well, I can get 60FPS at max settings on a laptop with a GT640M, so most people will have no trouble running it.
