I always loved the Ace Combat series of the Playstations, and this was the closest
thing to a PC version back then. Highly recommended (especially for that sale price).
Too bad they mucked up the 2nd game, I will stay clear of that.

But HAWX 1 is one of the best Action-Sims on PC, IMO.
Good performance, good looking, fast-paced action - A Jet-Junkies wet dream, lol.
Just don't expect realism, and the story could have been left out for all I care.
If those two things are not important, this is a really awesome game.

Sorry for spouting praise, when all you wanted was to show people that vid ;)

This game comes with a demo. I'd suggest trying before buying. The demo had problems running in dx10 for me. It became especially moody when I decided to play around with settings to adjust screen size, control inversion, etc. It only crashed twice. I may still purchase it, but my question is, will the full version allow for a different dx setting, and is it Co-op only? I kept getting a "waiting for other players to join" prompt when loading a level.

No, the full game has a complete singleplayer campaign, and after you played through,
you can repeat every mission in any order you like, on any of the three difficulty levels,
to unlock more planes and weapon loadouts.

I don't know about DX10, but I have played it once, and it didn't look any different - maybe that's just my perception, though. I have read about people having trouble with DX10, but I will say here that you really don't need it.

The only thing that really sucks, from my perspective, is this:
To unlock everything, you kinda have to play Team Deathmatch against other players,
because you get challenges (kinda like achievements, but you get fat XP points for it) for
that, too, and as far as I know, you can't reach the maximum level with single play only.
At some point, you have done all the challenges (Kill 100 Enemy Planes with Missiles etc)

Well, technically you can, but that'd be an incredible long grind. The XP award for kills and ending the missions themselves are laughably little.
