Using the "Aesthetics of play" described in this
EC episode, I would only partly agree with EC that this is an "expression" game. To me, this is more of an abnigation game, and it must be a pretty good one if I play it. You spend most of your time goofing off, spawning random things, or solving problems in awkward ways. On that note, ever wonder why Rudolf's nose glows? I made him radioactive, then Santa forced him to run over flaming ice mounds >=D.
As far as gameplay, the more interesting puzzles feel a bit like buzzword. Too bad they all but give you the answer eventually, but ultimately it is your choice whether or not to peak, so that's nice. This certainly isn't a very difficult game. If any degree of challenge is what you are looking for, I suggest you look elsewhere. If you want a game to just derp around and do random stuff, this game will make time fly.
One thing I do wish this game had were more modes. As it is, you only have a story mode. A sandbox mode would be perfect for this game. As well as a mode for making or accomplishing challenges apart from the main game. Of course, I haven't completed the game yet, so maybe more modes are unlocked on completion, but somehow I doubt it.
Overall, a game that offers a nice break if you are frustrated with life or another game, but don't expect to take this game seriously or you will be disappointed. Great stress relief!
