Creating avatars was something I was super excited for. The ability to create a female Maxwell, or a Medusa or something sinster and ridiculous was a dream come true, but I was met with serious disappointment.

The Avatar creation process is a tedious one. Because of bugs, deleting legs causes your character to "Sink" and given that you cannot move bounding boxes, and there's no template to show where your character will sit on the ground (No backgrounds? Why?) you can't compare your height or even make your character float if you wanted to (No legs) Without a lot of trial and error.

But perhaps the biggest and most frustration flaw is how limited you are to making an avatar. When you click to make an avatar, you always start with Maxwell. You can remove every single part of maxwell, except the body, which is arguably the most important piece to character creation.

A simple solution? When you click "NEW" Avatar, have it prompt you to choose a base (I.E "Witch") or just give you a blank bounding box to which to align your characters. There's user friendly, and then there's user nightmare. The latter is the case with Unlimited, because in its effort to make it easy to do, it knocks out too many features.

Sure, you can overlap bodies over Maxwell's body to "Sorta fix it" but that means increasing the body size, making your character look fat.

But that's not even all. You cannot share avatars, at least not that I've seen. I really wanted to share avatars, or at least use objects I've created in the object creator as an avatar. Why can't I do that? It really is hit and miss and I feel that it could be a whole lot better.

All I ask is that we can choose a "Base" or start with nothing. No Maxwell, no nothing, because making female Avatars is so frustrating when you got Maxwell's Torso to deal with.

I completely agree. A small patch with your suggestions would really improve this feature.

I doubt it would be a small patch, unless they can some how add filters so people don't use non-human type bases, unless they let us make any kind of avatar, which would be ideal.

Agreed. Hoping to have massive awesomeness from Avatar Selection.

EDIT: Ok, while the menu isn't very innovate or easy to use I've been able to make some ok avatars with little to no clipping (including some females). That being said, easier is always better.

I've been able to make some decent females too, but the leg bug really gets on my nerves. Still, Maxwell, why you so fat? =P.

Try using Artsy as a base, his torso seems thinner then the rest and is easier to use.

So removing legs and then re-adding them to the bounding box is what causes a character to sink? What would be the best way to replace the legs on base Maxwell without causing this issue? I'm guessing once the avatar "sinks" there's really no way to fix it except start a new one.

Covering existing Maxwell's Legs with the legs you want is the only way so far until they fix it.
Yeah an improved avatar editor would be awesome as awell as a level editor, I do hope this games receives dlc.

Do I have to keep the legs the same size and position to avoid clipping/sinking issues, or can I just shrink them down to the smallest they'll go and hide them in the center of the bounding box on a lower layer?

You need to keep the legs the same size. Shrinking the legs will make the character appear shorter or shrunken. Yeah, it sucks..

I know this is a massive thread necro, but as someone who just purchased the game, I find the rough state of the avatar editor to be extremely disappointing. I would love to see the ideas in the original post implemented. At the very least, a fix for the sinking character bug should be implemented.
