I have the very same crash with no mods loaded, time to reinstall I guess

Ok, I reinstalled the whole game (I am on a 1gbps connection) and it still crashes, vanilla install, I guess this is a bug on overkill's part.

it crashes as soon as I use the "t" key to send text either ingame or in a lobby

Wow... It started to work and then when i tried to do the chat it crashed again

They need to fix it asap.

Are you using a controller by any chance ?

yeah. and even with direct x 12. The problem only started with this update

i crash every time i shift+tab, great update overkill

after today's update the game closes, as if alt-f4'd, at any keyboard input
gamepad input works fine, can play, just not chat or anything keyboard related
even closes from menus or start screen

Whenever I try to screenshot or access the steam overlay it crashes too. Given the whole hack thing I don't if its intentional or not, god I hope so, I'm so sick of bugs.

I dont know how it is for anyone else but, mine crashes with any keyboard interaction, sometimes chat works but it is not worth the risk.

Also this is only happens when using a controller (my preference), I did some testing with keyboard and it works fine.

My advise is to use the keyboard if you are can, but if you must use a controller keep the keyboard it out of reach until they fix the problem so you dont press it by accident like I did.

I press one button, crash for the can_toggle_chat. So i press no button at all and don't text chat, but voice chat (with my controller) so you're not alone mackena8.

Holy damn, Good thing I'm not the only one! Payday 2 took 85% off my CPU for no reason....

if i alt tab or shift tab it crashes.... touch any key when the games loaded it crashes.only happened after patch, my friends having exact same prob.

Okay. I've been doing a bit of digging folks.

Unplug your controller completely from your system before starting the game, even if you don't use your controller in Payday.

I'd appreciate any feedback to let me know if this works.
