Can someone experienced explain the ECM jammer in detail?
Specifically:

1. What is 'feedback duration'?
2. What are the core purposes of the device?
3. How long does it last - and how much longer with the perks?
4. What missions and specific purposes is it best for?
5. What's the range like?

I'm really struggling with it. I don't really know how to get the best use of it, so any info is very appreciated.

A jammer has about the coverage of the lobby in bankheist (this is what we decided on as a safe area, not sure about the actual range, but it's definately not the entire map!), we usually put one at either end. It jams the camera's and prevents civilians and guards connecting through to the police by phone or pager. It lasts about 20 to 30 seconds at most.

We use it at jewelry store a lot and we put one near the entrance, we can speedrun Jewelry on Overkill in 2.5 minutes. the jammer gives us the time to tie the civilians as they can't get through to the cops. It's the first thing we put up when we get detected.

1: Feedback is another mode you can have on the jammer, The duration is approx 25 seconds.

2: The core purpose of this device is to stealth, So if you're trying to go for a stealth-run on Jewl heist. It will disable all cameras & phones, Thus making you undetectable for a short amount of time

3: How long it lasts is 25 Seconds, With the perks it lasts 45 seconds.
4: Jewelery Heist, Bank, Nightclub
5: The range is preety wide..

Note: the 'durations' may not be 100% accurate. Just from my understanding.

ECM Jammers:

ECM stands for Electronic Counter Measure. The jammer literally jams cameras, cell phones, and (with the perk) guard pagers for the duration of the jammer. The default jammer (with no other perks) has a very small range about the size of the lobby in a bank heist. Maybe smaller. If you upgrade your jammer - though undocumented - the range is extended significantly to about half a heist map or more. This means upgraded jammers can be used and you can take care of civilians inside and outside the bank or jewelry store etc without them phoning the police.

Deploying a jammer is done in the same was as deploying a medikit or ammo bag with the exception that it can be deployed on walls as well as furniture and floors.

BE AWARE:

1. Jammers only postpone alerts they do not stop them. A civilian who alerted while the jammer was active and is not restrained or killed will try to phone the police as soon as the jammer goes down.

2. Jammers do not affect hardwired alarm systems (we presume cameras must run on some kind of wifi). A jammer will not prevent a civilian running for and hitting a hardwired alarm button and they will do so if you are not careful. Always keep between the civies and the alarms until you have pacified and controlled the area. For example, in a bank heist there are 2 sets of alarms. The silent alarm buttons in the tellers secure area, and the single alarm near the photocopy room/office entry. If a civilian (including tellers) reaches either of these and presses the button, an alarm will go off whether you have a jammer up or not.

3. One of the perks relating to jammers postpones the pager response while the jammer is active. Keep in mind that once the jammer expires all active pagers must be answered before they time out. Clever use of a jammer in this situation can allow a solo player to take out 3 guards without losing a pager answer. Not recommend though.

4. Cameras will alert as soon as they come back on-line when the jammer expires if they can see suspicious activity such as a tied civilian or a dead body. Either take out the cameras or eliminate/dominate/convert the guard in the camera room where possible (not all maps have camera rooms).

5. Civilians will only stay intimidate for a short time and will get back up and run for an alarm while the jammer is active if they are not tied up or killed.

ECM Feedback:

ECM feedback turns an already deployed jammer into an emitter that stuns guards within a small radius with a 50%/100% chance. The feedback will trigger an alert on any guard it hits. This is only really useable in a 'go hot' situation where you've lost stealth and have no choice but to take out the guards or where you need to get through a pack of guards (such as carrying the server in day 2 firestarters). I really don't recommend using the feedback as it is barely situational at best.

I made a similar in-depth post yesterday. Before I realized somebody necro-posted this thread which was made back in August.

Sorry you just wasted your time. I know how it feels.

1) Time they are active.
2) Knock out camera feeds for the duration. Stops anyone from contacting police/set off alarms.
3) use payday 2 skills calculator for the stats.
4) can be used for any tbh. if lvled enough you can use them to open up atms which are on almsot every map. other than that use them for stealthing missions or speed runs.
5) global

damn and its a necro..wtf

Although, they used the search function instead of making a new post, so kudos to them.

Except they necro-posted to ask if the game was worth the price. Which sadly had nothing to do with ECMs.

EDIT: Actually, I wonder if the Steam Community servers screwed up and dumped some comments on this thread instead of their intended target(s). Because the first 3 comments since the thread died really have nothing to do with the thread's subject. And Steam Community did go on the fritz yesterday.
