What do you miss from Payday 1?
It's that time of discussion again!
What things from Payday 1 do you miss? Big or small, good or bad.

I can start with the big things:
1. The Steam-based stat recording.
2. Money being equivelent to XP (REP system).
3. Obtaining masks for achieving specific objectives (Golden masks/President masks).

Now my personal things that I miss:
1. How grandeur every heist felt.
2. How special units felt like an incoming mini-boss, rather than P2's influx of 5 bulldozers, 10 shields and 20 tasers.
3. Alex being a complete ♥♥♥♥.
4. Heat Street (excluding Matt).
5. How the subtle changes (random events) for every heist felt like a big deal.


Yeah, Overkill have improved Payday 2 vastly in many, many areas, but they seemed to have only taken the blueprints from Payday 1 instead of what made Payday 1 great.

Although people still think that OK should be working on the "balancing and play value", I urge them to re-implement objective-based masks such as the Golden masks, maybe this time around you can unlock permanent colours/patterns/masks for completing insane tasks?

Steam-based stat recording was what kept me playing Payday 1 for hours on end, it was so much fun just looking back on it every now and again and seeing how many SWAT I blew apart, how many visors I had shattered on a Bulldozer, and how many times I failed to stealth the purely luck-based Diamond Heist.

In fact, I miss the old heists. I think a lot of us can agree on that, and a lot of us would think re-adding previous heists would be a pretty fun idea, would it not?
Running through Heat Street or First World Bank with some updated features that Payday 2 brought (such as picklocking the boxes within vaults, which FWB had mind you) would be so much fun. 9 heists everyone loves, 9 heists everyone missed, 9 heists to add to Payday 2's limited selection..

So what about you guys, agree with anything I've said? What else do you miss (or don't miss, even)?

i actually got into the first one after playing the second was going to buy it till i found out 2 was coming out a week after but anyways i like that poster that has the missing dog on heat street named cavebear

Every point you hit is exactly what I miss too

I also liked the bantering the criminals did during the heists. Made you feel apart of the moment. Like in FWB, how your guy would yell "to the right, okay now left!" as you twist and turn escaping down the corridor.

I also miss the escapes.

The lack of needing to carry 80 bags per map..

And the professionalism in each of the heists. Plus, things logically made more sense. For instance, being apart of and pushing the armored truck into the nearby slaugherhouse and having an escape plan already lined up. Compared to, Payday 2's crossroads, where bain decides a 4 way intersection is a ♥♥♥♥ing fantastic place to ambush some armored trucks. Don't worry, he'll send a van when your done to wherever he fancys.

I miss fun and epic heists. But yeah i think i can agree to the full list you gave, maybe except for Alex.

I think the Payday 1 Heists are much more enjoyable to play, and i miss feeling like a heister and not just some 2 bit criminal.

Really my complaints haven't changed, and i am really let down by the armored truck DLC.

I miss the cloakers. I hope they fix those spooks (cloakers) they talked about like 4-6 months ago? I don't know what takes so much time to fix an enemy. but it's taking too long imo.

Well they probably went from "these things are causing the cloaker to crash so lets fix them" to "the cloaker needs some new bells and whistles to make them more fun!"...but in all honesty, who knows what is going on with them now.

They are giving them new abilities, one of them is being able to carry the player away from the team.

All honesty, I'm tired of the limitations they've imposed to the player just to hope it adds in that extra 'oomph' of difficulty.
Flash bangs are ♥♥♥♥ing ridiculous. They don't make anything harder, they just blind you for what feels like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minute. Most of the time I just use spatial memory to hide in a corner and look like I'm doing nothing until it wears off.

But I digress, I hope Overkill manage to get their eyes on this thread (as if) and just take a pointer or two.. something like adding in the old maps would buy them some time from complaints to add in some NEW stuff.

I miss the old Reinfield's power and sounds. Felt like a true shotgun, packing a huge punch. Now, it just feels like a pop gun.

Adding in Payday 1 maps would take about the same amount of time as new content, so that won't buy them any time at all.

Taking some pointers from what we enjoyed in Payday 1 would be beneficial. I get they are trying to draw in an additional crowd, but did it have to involve the removal of the epic feel, engaging storyline, and genuine player camaraderie?
