Needs a demo + fix price.
As title says.

Without demo, I'm afraid it's a no go. Just provide us with one map and online capability + offline tutorial, and limit the play time to an hour or something (once the tutorial is done).

Also please adjust the price accordingly. 1€ is NOT equal to 1$. Not even close.

The Euro/USD thing isn't a mistake, it is deliberate. It has been talked about over and over again in the community forums. Also, the euro is not obscenely outperforming the USD anymore, it is 1.2USD. If anyone has a real right to gripe it's the brits at 1.6 USD.

It's 1.287USD. Equivalent to about 22% sale. Regardless currency, higher price = less sales.
Honestly, I would like to see Steam fairly price their games but I don't expect it to happen any time soon. It has been argued, despite whether or not your sales logic is true in the case of Steam, that Valve's pricing model is beneficial to them as a company in more ways than one. The most notable, is the VAT tied into most european sales that Steam is liable to pay on your behalf, where US digital sales are free of tax. Speculatively, as the range between the USD and Euro has narrows, Steam may actually be losing money on your sales. In countries with a 20+% VAT, that wouldn't be good business, and you would be expected to pay the VAT anywhere else in said country, ultimately meaning you have just paid less than your share of NET price in comparison with those paying in USD.

So you see, it is an international problem that far exceeds the reach of Steam, and they should not be liable to provide charitable releif for countries with a VAT tax. If you want to do the math, and it appears after VAT you are still paying more, I would argue that that amount is negligable in most cases but would respect your right to protest that difference. Just know it is not as cut and dry as you think. If it were up to me, they would price approprietly, and include VAT based on sales location as a seperate field so that you could see exactly how the sale breaks down.

Just do what most people do, add it to your wish list. Then let it sit there and rot until it goes on sale. I thought this was kinda silly when I heard my brother say thats what he does. But the more I talk to people, the more I came to realize that thats exactly what almost everyone I know who uses steam does. Especially how often things actually go on "sale" which to me translates into what is a fair price. So needless to say I have taken up this practice as well :D

Same here - I buy during sales of at least 66%, usually 75% because of this ridiculous pricing. Why should I waste money? I don't even want translations etc - I'd be fine with the US version. So I'll just wait. I have nothing to lose.
*face palm* Forget it.
Both valve and the publishers stand to gain, valve gets percentage of the sale price per unit so in that matter it would lead one to assume who benefits the most from this pricing policy.
Still no reply from the devs about a demo then ? :/

It amazes me how many europeans have no idea about what their own laws are. In the US valve pays 0% tax on almost all of their sales, in the EU they pay 22% or something crazy like that. Valve is not the one profiting from the price difference, your government is, once you include the VAT tax, prices are almost flat between the US and EU.
Yup. Europe is much more socialist than US and thats where pricedifference comes from. You though your state benefits were free? LOL. Sadly US is getting down the path of socialism as well...
Demo needed. Real price = 5-7$
Not going to get into a political debate about duty of care vs socialism. Funny as hell when people try and make that mean communism.

However paying VAT on games is one thing but if the price is wrong to begin with than thats slightly different. Price should be converted from $'s to whatever accurately regardless of the tax that may or may not get added on.

For me an indie game over £10 really benefits from a demo. If it's a quality game then I might not mind paying abit more but the screenshots and videos I've seen come across as having a slightly eyemelting colour scheme.
Not sure if you've noticed or not, but there IS a demo currently available =)
