Cost of weapons and all that stuff.
IM quite annoyed that weapons and stuff cost so much certs. Also camo should not cost REAL money. I was really looking forward to get camo but then i found out that it cost money. And helmets and that stuff shold cost certs to. But weapons are far to expensive. It would take me many days of constant playing to get hellfire rockets wich is really importen for being a a pilot. Sure some things like that minigun should cost 1000 cert but the rest is far to expensive.

usually games cost $40-$60 before they even let you see if there is anything worth ♥♥♥♥♥ing about.

if you dont pay expect to grind for a long time

You do not have to pay, you can grind until you dream of war and until your fingers blister or you can get out your visa. The choice is yours, no problem.

Actually camo should cost something because it doesnt affect your gameplay. Cosmetics as the only pay exclusives is the right way to do F2P. I won't comment on actual weapon prices though...

Most of the weapons that you can buy with money don't make a huge difference. They're all fairly balanced, for the most part. There are some exceptions, but nothing seems overly powerful or game breaking; so it's not really pay to win, it's pay to save yourself time. It's a game that is meant to be played for a long time, if you want to get the most out of it. If you can't be bothered to do that, I'm sure that SoE is happy to make at least some profit from the free game.

I'd say that there is a huge gap between cert pricing of weapons, like 100 to 1000 certs on some weapons, and i don't really get why.
I do get they make the prices quite high to persuade people to pay for the game, but I think it's not horrible in this game. The devs need to get money from somewhere, etc...
Still, Some weapons are a bit overpriced, as I find 1000 for a gun that still has a lot of upgrade options a bit over the top.
Also, camo and all other cosmetical items should either cost tons of certs (like over 1000) or cost money, because they don't affect gameplay at all.

id like to be able to buy camo with cert too, but when i see how SWTOR is structured where you can't even use chat normally if you arent a subscriber, i'm quite content the way planetside works...

WHat i mean is that i dont want to grind for 4 days to get ONE weapon FOR once character and the weapon looks just like the other weapons barley any diffrence. And the only way to change your character is cammo. In the trailer for planetside they say "you can use cammo for melting in the enviorment" They should have said that it would cost. I dont want to get ♥♥♥♥♥d of money for ONE weapon that barley looks any diffrent then the other weapons!. FOR ONE CHARACTER AGAIn. The only way to stand out is to pay money. I refuse.

I agree you do need alot of certs for some stuff but for a free game why not pay £10 on a triple station cash day.
CrazedSwede(SWE) Jan 8, 2013 @ 10:10am
That means i will ned up paying 500 euro instead of just 40 60 50 or 30.

Don't worry. F2P will be short lived. Age of Empires Online is already shutting down. Zynga is shutting down games. The business model will only be missed by a handful of children who are unlucky enough to be growing up with it. Once they get jobs and have disposable income, they'll come around.

infantry have it easy enough. There are sidegrade guns, but nothing really stands out. You can buy cheaper guns like the semi auto (for NC) or bolt sniper rifles really cheap because they wan't the at option out there.

This game has lost a ton of people to the rediculous straight vehicle upgrades which you will never achieve without paying up front. High explosive weaponry that oneshot infantry by the dozens available to only payers is not a good choice if you want to keep your free-players (who are content for the paying crowd)

comparing this game to some cheap browser based facebook "games" is ridiculous. the exact opposite is true. the "pay $60 for the game then $15 a month then $40 per expansion plus $20 sparkly pony" model is the one that isn't sustainable. SOME people can afford that, but most cannot and will not in the future since much of our disposable income has been stolen from us by the 1%. If this game were pay to play I never would have given it a chance, but since it was free I did, and I enjoyed it, and I spent some money on it.

the grind is in your head, this game is what you make of it, if you don't want to grind, just PLAY and you will get certs in return. if you enjoy yourself, give them some money as appreciation, and use it towards what you think will best enhance your gameplay. if you really want the most bang for your buck, wait till the sales and XP bonus days/weeks.
