The most trolled mmo in history
Vanguard deserves the title of the most trolled mmo in history.
No other game has seen so much unfair hate and downright supid comments as Vanguard.
For anyone that is curious about this game, i suggest ignoring all the comments good or bad, and try it for yourself, it wont cost you a penny after all.

Edit: the forums here seem to confirm what i said (sadly)

Over the years, i played quite a few mmos that i disliked and even hated. I posted my negative comments on their forums and quit.
After quitting i never posted negative comments about these games, not on their site not anywhere else, i dont even read the discussions about them.

Why would some people stalk and troll a game for years is beyond my comprehension.
I guess Vanguard must be special to attract this kind of undying hate.

Best post in these forums. Played the game when it launched, loved it, but couldn't justify the cost. Free to play I might just hop on because I can justify.

I ended up stopping playing only because the fact that there was nobody to play WITH at a specific point. I figured the game would shut down.

That it's gone F2P makes me happy.

Trolled...and deservedly so.

I won't go into all the gory details but as a gamer I've never felt quite the level of abandonment I felt while watching this disaster unfold through the development/release process. The details are out there if anyone cares to do some rudimentary research.

That all being said, I agree with the OP in that folks should try it for themselves now that the storm has subsided.

Ok, tell me is it a good game, not some everquest or wow ♥♥♥♥ and does anyone play it? I don't want to waste 10 hours again just to see single player game in a mmo.

the game is amazeing except the COIN CAP having ONLY 2P limit when end game items cost hundreds of plat is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and SOE should have seen in EQ2 that EVERYONE hated the coin cap and instead of it being free its more like a demo forcing ALL to pay monthly just to use half deacent gear and to use coin u find stupid sony is such a awesome game too

It was good at the start when they had better class and gear customizsation. Then they dumbed it down, I stopped playing after that.

I think it's hilarious and tragic how developers keep twitching and turning to make a new and refreshing MMO which doesn't go down like titanic a week after launch. I can't find any MMO out there that isn't either bleeding out their players because they are struggling financially or has all the classic elements. I now do WorldOfTanks which is supposed to be an MMO but is more like a shooter, the only real free2play game out there.
How hard can it be to have: Fantasy + classes + itemdatabase + a good crafting system + OPENWORLD pvp. Most games have just one of these elements and thats why they keep failing over and over and over. I now tried Tera, which has a great combat system. But then it has hardly any content at all. Now Ive tried LOTR, which seems to be very expensive. An addon costs 50€ for a game running since 2006 ? + half the content is locked because you're a free player, that's just disgusting.

They'll keep billing 10€ for a pony and fail to find players until they figure out all they really need is ALL the basics. I don't even mind grinding or gaps in between quests. As long as you can interact, trade and craft with other players.

Yeah an MMO totally needs open world pvp to be successful. Give me a break...

Make that game. Even if you don't have the technical expertise to go it alone or lead the team you can gather the people that can or at least get the ball rolling. Over course you might run into tha same issuse that current MMO developers do, like balancing vision with what can be made and maintained. But who knows, you might be sitting on the idea that will have palyers flocking from around the world to play your game for years, maybe decades.

tbh i liked the game when it launched had alot of classes and races, also when you go to make a new class you dont have to repeat the same stupid area again like every other mmo. the only thing that was bad about it back then was that it was deserted it was hard to find anyone after a month or so. also it was neat how you could build your own house/ship that was a neat little system to be introduced and the crafting was rather interesting.

Sounds like I will pass on that.

I wodner why no one has mentioned GW2. It has a really large and beautifully designed world, a very good crafting system which is motivating and actually useful. It has pvp tournaments but the real selling point is wvw (world versus world) where you have Large Battlefields with castles, supply lines and towers where three different servers play against each other with huge battle with hundreds of players participating. The strategic gameplay is amazing.

Vanguard, wow, tera, lotro and such are just a waste of time and money, while guild wars 2 doesnt cost anything beyond the initial price. There is no extra content for people who buy gems with real money. (gems can be bought with ingame money too which is much more efficient btw)

EVE Online is one of the exceptions here, its fantastic too. :)

Guild Wars 2 has no end game content.

Vanguard, WoW, Tera, Lotro and the such do.
