Can't join, can't unpause

So I pre-ordered this game and finally got around to playing it when I find it takes forever to join a game and when I finally do I ready up and.. wait 20 minutes and never spawn. Worst of all is if I pause the game to try to quit, I can't unpause it or close the menu! This is the buggiest game I've ever seen.
