Worth It?
I see a lot of posts and have read a lot of places where this game is plagued by bugs and connectivity issues. I also see where there have been quite a few patches released for the game. The game itself looks like a lot of fun, and I have a group of friends that seem like it would be perfect for (we very much like killing eachother off), and it seems like a great way to play with the wife (and slaughter her! Muahhaah).

However, all the info Ive read so far seems to have turned me off of the problems that the game has.

Is it currently in a state that is playable?

I played with a group of three regularly in Dungeon Maestro mode and it was an absolute blast. We had issues in the early release builds but now the problems are just little things that don't tarnish the gameplay much at all for us. I have joined random games a few times and had fun with it, but the best times were definitely with a group of people that I knew, and were communicating with over Skype or the like.

The issue we are running into now is the lack of content however. The Dungeon Maestro mode only allows you to play in one campaign area. It's somewhat randomly generated, but the scenery gets dull after so many games in it. The cooperative campaigns were fun as well, but once again, there are only three campaigns and after playing them multiple times, you may crave new things.

Keep in mind that connection issues do exist for quite a few people, especially those that don't have access to their router/modem to tweak settings or those that don't know how to forward IP's or set static ones. I have not had a problem connecting to anyone, but more than a handful have.

The developers seem to have a lot of love for the game and seem to be working on adding new things, so we will probably just put it on hiatus until an update rolls out. We definitely got more than our money's worth out of it though.

No. It's not. Read a lot of the threads, take the complaints into consideration. This is one of the most simple, shallow, worthless games you'll ever buy.

It is worth it, alot of fun to play with friends. The only problem I have is that not many people play, and they released gameplay changing DLC shortly after release that should of been included in the game.

We releasing DLC is a bad thing? :-)

We have solved the vast majority of serious bugs in the game and have been patching it in a weekly basis since day 1.

We have released and are releasing content for free, including the upcoming 1.1 patch which will unlock Infinite Dungeon and a LOT of changes and tweaks for everyone, free.

Hope you choose to support us! This is our first game and we need to get the word around since our marketing budget is not exactly in the millions. :-)

Well, with no way to try before purchase, I think ill have to take a pass on this one. I do love supporting indie projects, and may take a look at it later when it has some more content available.

Good luck!

Nope not unless your really bored. Still buggy laggy and when you go online nobody is playing it, so not many online people to play with. The bot AI is pathetic. But if you have 3 friends who want to play at the same time it is a hoot.

it would have been worth it, but the game launched with so many bugs that everyone left, the first week there were hundreds of servers, now... 3.Don't bother unless the player base comes back with a free weekend sale or something.

Even up until now they have not fixed the hosting issue, no one can connect to my matches.
This game had soo much potential the core gameplay mechanics are actually very good, but the developers ruined their chances by ruining the launch simialr to special forces team X

I really like this game but admittedly all the bugs that were never fixed (and seemingly still not fixed) make me regret buying it. They have something brilliant here, but the most important thing of any game is being able to actually play it without something breaking every 5 minutes.

I'd have to advise passing on it. If this game was in a state where something doesn't break at least once per game, it'd be another story.

I'm so sorry for programmers of this game, but my advice is simply "dont buy this game". The idea of the game is great, but the execution is terrible. The AI Bot is maybe the stupidest intelligence I every seen in a game and it's not fun. The game is still laggy and it's near unplayable for me, even if I play games like Guild wars 2 at maximum graphics. It has many bugs and shutters that are really boring. The core mechanic is fun, but there are too many problems that makes this game really bad: it's a sort of alpha. I was so excited about this game, I saw a lot of gameplay from Angry Joe and other youtubers and i got a lot of hype.. and now I can admit that this is one of the worst game of 2013. I hope a patch will fix these thing, i'll give some hope for this programmers. Really this is my 1ST time i'm so angry about a game, if I could i'll take my money back. Seriously, for me is not worth it, too many problems.

While I can't speak for the AI in game, I really enjoy playing multiplayer and DM Mode with a group of friends. Even though there are glitches, DM Mode can be really hilarious. I have had some issue with lag, but not to the point that it is unbearable. I don't really understand all of the hate here... My friends and I bought the 4-pack for $30 and I feel like we definitely got our money's worth out of it.
Dedrahel 5 apr 2013 om 6:23nm
Kaye it's not the hate, for me the game it's unplayable. When I play alone the bot's AI is ugly (the "singleplayer" on the store page should be removed, the game doenst work in Singleplayer) and when I play online the disconnections, the lag, the bug makes the game too much boring. Maybe with some friends you can enjoy the game, but for me it's a ugly game.. I remember when the elite mobs spawn! Too much shuttering! Ah no, my advice is not buy the game FOR NOW. Maybe in future they can improve they product, I hope so. Again, I'm so sorry saying these words, it's the 1st time a game disappoint me so much.
Super_Vhzik 5 apr 2013 om 10:24nm
Dedrahel, so I can completely agree with you.
I hoped so much... watched plenty youtube videos and what? This game is disappointment.
And these terrible lags, shutterings, fps drops... =(

DLC is bad when your game is so shallow.
Sorry to say, but your game is still riddled with small annoying bugs and there is very limited depth to each character class. Connectivity is still a huge problem and I believe this has been shown over time as people are getting fed up / bored with your game.

On any given night I can only see about 3-5 games (which are not even full) at any given time. So there's less than 15 people actually playing in multiplayer.

Sadly, I watched a total biscuit preview of this game at a con and it seemed impressive, but onece you figure out the basic mechanics of the game it simply becomes boring.

5/10 - Not the worst game ever, but it's definitely nowhere close to fun after about 2 hours.

It's not nearly as shallow as you try to make it out to be. Team work is pretty important in order to stand a chance against a good DM, and understanding what role your character plays is essential.

DMing, on the other hand, is a lot of micromanagement. You have to think on your feet against good heroes, and have to step in personally if things are going south or lose precious momentum.

But, there are some problems. All the character classes are pretty rigid, and you have to play them in one specific way most of the time. Some of the monsters are kind of underwhelming, and there should be a few more tilesets. Also, voice chat is a must for this type of game, as taunting those heroes as a DM should be a part of the experience.

If I had to rate it, I'd say it is a "good" game, but just that. A good first effort for a new set of developers, to be sure.
JALALALALALALALLA 6 apr 2013 om 1:19vm
so basically what you said is the game is shallow unless youre playing DM mode which requires you to have 4 competent players...

sorry, but as someone who doesn't know 3 other people who are willing to play this game again it is a very weak selling point.

I'd also like to point out again that the number of active games on the multiplayer list often hovers around 3-5. This doesn't leave a person many options for entering a game or finding people to play with.

also, when I say 3-5 I really mean 1-2 because the majority of those games you will be unable to connect to.
