Campaign goals are much to hard to make game enjoyable.
The game is fun until you get frustrated by the much to hard winning goals in the campaign and scenarios. This forces you to find a certain (and probably only) stategy to win, leaving little variety to game tactics of your own.

sorry to say but you counter your own argument. Making it very easy only leaves 1 way to win, making it harder forces you to think. You got it the other way around. I know nowadays games are so super easy you can complete them with 1 hand, not all are. Thank god. If else go play any console titel from the pas 7 years. They all be ♥♥♥♥ easy.
Don't be afraid to spend your prestige. That should help you achieve your goals.
I am sorry Postius, but that is not a very educated reply. I didn't say I wanted the game VERY easy to win. I said it was too hard. I believe that raising the goal limits just a little bit (maybe two turns) would still leave the game a tough challenge, offering more ways to achieve the goals and stay longer fullfilling.
Well try it this way, the first time just spend a load of prestige on the mission. Do this until you run upto a wall in the campaign. Than go back to some missions and do them better. Hope this helps, this way you more or less set your own difficulty until you can't advance in the campaign.
You can acess all the missions of the game from the scenario page anyway, so you don't really get penalized if you can't get a perfect victory on say, Stalingrad. But the highest levels of victory sometimes need a bit of luck to accomplish on some scenarios, don't feel bad if you struggle to achieve them.
Again, you can play all missions even if you're stuck in the campaign
It's def. not too hard.
for the no perfecte victories there are enough tactical options and some space for mistakes.
sometimes you have to replay a map to get a perfect vicotry without spending prestige and that's a good thing. if you don't want to play a map twice go for a lesser victory and spend some prestige.
for the no perfecte victories there are enough tactical options and some space for mistakes.
I agree with the OP.

It's not impossible to get decisive victories. It's just not enjoyable to have to replay missions time after time because of some minor mistake, bad weather or bad luck.

I'm a casual gamer and this game is to hard to be fun. I have no idea why developers would want to frustrate new gamers from the very first scenario.

Combine this with the absence of a difficulty setting or a possibilty to save during a mission (I need to replay the whole scenario because I accidentily clicked on the wrong button or hex? Really?) and you have made this game an annoying experience.
I think the problem here for many is highlighted in the comment by Byland11 describing himself as a 'casual gamer' In my opinion UOC is not really a game that the average casual gamer is going to like.

I think it's always generally good to have a difficulty setting as Byland11 suggests - but this is a 'Wargame' in the traditional sense - a board Wargame in computer form. It might be on Steam, but it's still a game for those really interested in the tactics and strategies of WW2 fighting at Division/Corps level, or those who are wanting to get into proper Wargaming. A step on the ladder before you try more complex wargames like 'War in the East' for example. It's a better step on the ladder without an easy setting.

This might be a light Wargame, but it has concepts that are trying to be as realistic/historical as possible. If you are not familiar with those concepts you will struggle. Those concepts are trying to convey the difficulty of the historical situation - and the Eastern Front is not supposed to be easy. Asking for a game like this to be easier is a bit like complaining to the Flight Simulator community that the aircraft should have steering wheels. Some people are simply discovering that this particular genre is not for them. However this game is being very well received in the wargaming community.

Another demand of this type of game is that you actually have to think carefully before you move, and also read the manual for a change - and In doing so you will learn about supply and so on - but also see that there 'is' a save button is in the menu. So you can save at any point in a scenario when the going is good. Also in campaign you can reload the scenario from the beginning without wasting the current campaign. Is this not enough? ..... do we want our Panzer Divisions supplied with teddy bears?

For me, much of the difficulty was really understanding the supply mechanic, Theater Assets, Reserve Pool, and some of the details like units that are dug in or have a Specialist attached. I actually made a post with a few tips that might help new players, as some of the stuff I mentioned never really occurred to me at first.

I don't get why some poster are obsessed with decisive victories ( that's the highest right ?).

If you have trouble achieving it and don't like replaying it, you don't have to, you still have access to all the content.

This is a bit like complaining it's hard and boring to finish a good adventure game at 100% and finding all secrets etc. There is no point doing it if you don't enjoy it.

Again, decisive require a pretty good tactic and some luck...
I agree with kyros, the tutorial doesn't do a good job in telling you how important the supply mechanic is, and it also seems to skip some other topics. The tutorial really needs to be redone. Read the manual instead if you're still having trouble.

But once you learn the game, it's really fun and not anywhere near as frustrating.
it took me three games till I worked out properly how the supply system works (I think :-) now when I play i might be able to get somewhere properly

not that I have a problem with that,
Just have to join the consensus and say that the supply mechanic is super critical, and also very cool! If you're not careful enemy troops can reestablish territory control (red zone) over like a railroad and boom you're out of supply for that turn. The times its happened to me it's usually because I forgot that troops can move through their own, so I didn't block them off enough and when they see an opening to cut your supply off they will take it.

I really like how you have to cut through enemy territory and basically establish corridors, where supply will seep through like water through cracks in a rock. You just have to be careful not to let them seal it back up.

Also, by the second turn out of supply you won't be able to attack, although it seems you can still defend no matter what.
agree with OP, why no difficulty OPTION? yeah...
I also became very frustrated with the difficulty but after making a post on the forums someone gave me a save file of their game of the first scenario of the campaing and I spent a good hour watching what he did, he managed to get a briliant victory and I took in step by step how he did it.
I also spent a good half hour reading the PDF manual that comes with the game and I can say the devs put a great deal of effort into explaining all the game mechanics and that helped me also, I watched how the AI responded to the save file from that guy also and it has helped me understand how supply is everything in this game.

I have to say that the game is simplistic in a sense compared to games like HoI3 but can take a long time to master as many of the nuances that will help you achieve a briliant vicotry can take many playthroughs to master. Understanding how important opening up and keeping supply chains, attached specialist units on your side and the enemies and how you use them or deal with them, pincer and blitzkreig tactics as well as weather and if units are dug in or out of supply and weakended all factor into how you should plan a route of advance or breakthroug

Taking the time to understand these will greatly improve your chances of achieving your goal and enjoyment of the game. Yes it requires some effort on your part to read PDF and forums and even downloading a save file of other people who have won the day, but it is well worth the time if you want to get your moneys worth from the game and continue to support these great developers with a wonderfully fresh take on the genre.

Smiles :)
