UoC update blocked as Malware (!)

Just logged on to Steam and it started downloading a small (16MB, I think) update for "Unity of Command" - then my Norton security software stepped in and blocked the update, saying the uoc.exe file in the update contained malware identified as "Suspicious.Cloud.7.F"

Anyone else had this happen? Is it malware, or a false positive? My UoC update is now stuck on "paused" at 100% and I'm not sure whether it's OK to allow it or not.

Same thing just happened to me. Pretty sure this is a false positive...I've just turned off my Norton 360. But....according to steam I've already downloaded the game. How do I download it again?

Go into your library - right click on your UoC game - choose delete local content - go back to UoC store page or account details or wish list choosing games list - then click download.

I just had the same thing happen with Norton for the UoC update. This has happened to me at least once before with Steam updates.

I plan to wait a few days (I'm not currently playing UoC) and then do as DDuunneeWWaarriioorr suggests, delete and download again.

Or just verify game cache and it will only download the missing file duh. As far as nortons, just go into Nortons options and exclude the game folder. In fact just exclude the entire Steam folder and your steam library apps folder and you'll never see a nortons alert again. For this specific file, right click your Nortons taskbar icon. Select View Recent History, it will be listed as a threat, click RESTORE in hyperlink blue, and choose ignore future instances. Its part of their DRM system thats spooking Nortons. Most DRMs look like and actually are security issues. Part of gaming though unfortunately.

Thanks for the helpful advice, everyone. Wasn't just me then! Never had Norton raise an alert about an update before... Will tell Norton to exclude the Steam folder, as jimrad1 suggested.

I wouldn't go THAT far. Perhaps just exclude the UoC folder or executable. While this time, it's a false positive, there's always a chance that another game will be compromised or push out an infected update.

Ditching Norton is the fix. Why should games developers tweak their executables for all the myriad anti-virus programs out there so they don't throw a fit?

AVG also reports uoc.exe as an "unknown" threat :(

Got the same thing when I installed it. I'm assuming it's a false positive. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened, happened once before with Unstoppable Gorg as well.
